Team News!

December 13, 2007

Champions and Pepsi Challenge Gym Meets

I am so proud of all of the team members that participated in these meets. I think everyone has a good taste of what we are working toward now and I couldn’t be more proud of our gymnasts’ enthusiasm, sportsmanship and effort.

Level 5 team members, about ½ of the Level 4 team and Lucy Robins (Level 9) will travel to Fayetteville this weekend for the Santa Meet. This will be a good meet with a lot of tough competition – Good Luck Girls!

I encourage parents to stay positive with your children and focus on your child’s individual progression and goals throughout meet season.  Please be aware of what skills your child may need to improve scores and feel free to ask me or your coach questions concerning your child’s individual plan for improvement.

Once we get through the Santa Meet, we will have about a month before we compete again. This will give us some time to continue to improve our skills and presentation. Please make every effort to have your gymnast at practice during this time.

Coaching Staff Assignments

I am pleased to announce that we have added Kelly Treece to the coaching staff. Kelly comes to us from Williams Gymnastics in Fayetteville. She was a Level 10 gymnast and was coached by Dennis during her career.  She is full time on the schedule and will be in the gym every night coaching the girls.

With the addition of Kelly to the staff, we have been able to restructure the team coaching staff responsibilities and focus as follows:

Angie Phillips – Lead Instructor for Level 3

Kelly Treece – Lead Instructor for Level 4

Dennis Harris – Head coach for all levels with lead responsibility for Level 5 and up.

Assistant Team Coaches – Hannah Trice, Monica Jones, Lynn Gast, and Heather Higgs.

Holiday Schedule

Team will change their workout schedule to the following the week of Christmas:

(All levels need to be here during these times, bring a sack lunch)

Thursday, December 27; 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Friday, December 28; 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

No workouts planned for Dec 31 or January 1, 2008

Regular workouts resume as previously scheduled on January 2

Christmas Party and Gift Exchange – Thursday, December 20

The girls will draw names this evening for our Christmas party after practice on the 20th. We will end practice at 7:00 and have refreshments for the kids and open gifts. Please keep your gift age appropriate and spend no more than $10.

Please see Christina at the front desk, to sign up to bring food or drinks to the party.

I hope everyone will have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Tammy
