Bike-A-GoGo, women's demo day in Santa Fe   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #494 of 616 |

I am working with the women’s bike demo day in Santa Fe next month. Have you heard of it (info below)? My main goal now is finding female backyard or shop mechanics interested in signing up for the bike build contest. The first prize is $175 cash, plus bike goodies. Should be great fun.

The contest will be something along the lines of a 20-minute exercise including installing/aligning the seat/seatpost, handlebar/stem (with shifters, brakes, tape/grips already installed), pedals, wheels, attaching the cables to the derailleurs and brakes and adjusting to spec, checking tire pressure, and then going for a test ride.
If you are interested, or know of anyone who is, including someone who wants to judge, please email me. Thanks--nicole

Bike-A-GoGo
The fun-loving Pedal Queens, a women's cycling club based in Santa Fe, will be hosting Bike-a-GoGo, a Women's Bicycle Demo Day and Expo, on November 11 at the Santa Fe Community College. The focus is women cyclists in the Southwest (Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas) that are interested in learning more about bikes and gear. They will have a chance to see what bike companies have to offer those of the female persuasion.

Women-specific products, local retailers, and other women-oriented bicycle businesses will attend, featuring road and mountain biking products, nutritional goods, and apparel. Bike-a-GoGo will include seminars on safety, training and equipment, raffles, two contests (women's tire-changing competition and a battle of the bike builder for female mechanics interested in demonstrating their skills), organized bike rides, and an after-party for the ladies attending.

The Pedal Queens are quickly becoming one of the largest women's cycling clubs in the country. The club focuses on creating a supportive, non-threatening environment for women to learn about and ride both road and mountain bikes. Known for their pink feather boas and squeals of laughter, the Pedal Queens are super energetic. This event is sure to be a blast for everyone.

What: Bike-A-GoGo, the Pedal Queens Bike Expo and Demo
When: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 11
Who: Complete beginners to expert cyclists, something for everyone!
Where: Santa Fe Community College, 6401 Richards Avenue
Information: www.pedalqueens.com/bikeagogo.html or call (505) 670-4830
