Hello Friends of Red Rock Canyon,

IÂ’m writing from the Colorado Outdoor Training Initiative (COTI) to let
you know about an upcoming Crew Leadership Training in the Colorado
Springs area. If you arenÂ’t familiar with COTI, we are a nonprofit
based out of Denver that provides land stewardship and conservation
skills training in partnership with various conservation groups and
land management agencies throughout Colorado. I am contacting you
because I want to inform you of this upcoming opportunity and find out
if any of your members would be interested in attending. As we havenÂ’t
hosted many workshops in your area this season, weÂ’re really trying to
get the word out about this one.

On October 14-15, we are offering a 2-day COTI Crew Leadership for
Trails Workshop in partnership with the City of Colorado Springs and
Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado. The 16 hour training is a mix of
classroom and field instruction with the goal of providing individuals
the skills they need to lead crews on important trail work projects.
Participants will practice and understand basic trail construction and
maintenance techniques, develop their leadership abilities, and learn
the principles of crew safety and risk management. Ideal trainees have
a passion for conservation and land stewardship and some leadership and
trail experience (recommended, but not mandatory).

Currently, we have 8-10 slots available and would like to advertise the
training opportunity to volunteers in your network.

Individuals can sign up for the training online by visiting
http://www.voutdoors.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewevent&id=859&dateid=1755
or they can email me (liz@...) or give us a call at
303-715-1010 x11 for more info. I hope this training opportunity can
prove beneficial to your organization and volunteers.

Thanks and let me know if you have any questions!

Best,

Liz
