Thanks to the CMSP Trail Builders and Next Year's Trail Building Pr   Message List

Greetings,

Now that it's cold and snowy, it's time to turn our thoughts to the balmy evenings of summer when the Medicine Wheel trail crews cut new trail.

First off, many thanks go out to Bob Wells, who adopted the CMSP Medicine Wheel trail and saw it through to completion.  Of course, Bob didn't do it alone, and we thank all of you volunteers who worked on the trail.  Some other folks who put in a lot of hours on that trail (some even more than Bob) are Dave Jewett, Dennis Ackley, Kris Arnott, Larry Hilliard, and Tobin Lefere.  Between the six of you, over 421 hours of work was put into the trail!  Another 73 hours was volunteered by many more people.  In total, the trail took 494 hours of work to complete.  (Please forgive if I spelled your name wrong)

Thank you all.

By the way, the trail has been officially named by Colorado State Parks "The Medicine Wheel Trail".

Looking forward to 2004, Medicine Wheel has the opportunity to build more trails!

Unfortunately, Bob Wells has moved back to Florida, so....

MEDICINE WHEEL NEEDS A NEW TRAIL BUILDING LEADER (OR TWO).

That's right, we need someone to step up and decide to run a new trail project.  A trail leader will help decide where to build a trail, lay it out on the ground, organize the crews (typically one evening a week), track the hours, and, of course, build some trail.  Some trail building experience will be helpful (hint, hint, you guys mentioned above).

Some options for a new trail location include Cheyenne Mountain State Park (again), Blodgett Open Space, or a connection between Palmer Park and University Park, or maybe you can suggest something else.

If this sounds interesting to you, contact one of the folks listed below and we'll be happy to sign you up.

In the meantime, stay tuned for information on our upcoming spring meeting, our new trail projects, and more about the Cheyenne Mountain State Park Trail Guide program, which will be starting up as soon as we have some details ironed out.

Thanks and keep on rolling.
