Not the kind of league that we’re all used to, but something fun and different. It’s aptly named: Fun League. This league will run concurrently with the standard Ultimate league we’re all used to, and is a sort of experiment that SOUPA is trying out for the Fall season. Its level of success will dictate this new league’s future, so read on and see if it’s something you may be interested in. Whether you play in one league, or the other, or both, will be entirely up to you.
Fun League is open to all Ultimate players, however, it is designed to cater to certain types of players:
- Do you play Ultimate primarily for recreation and fun?
- Are you new to Ultimate and looking for a laid-back, fun environment to learn the game in?
- Are you generally non-competitive or do you prefer a non-competitive game?
- Are you concerned primarily about the quality of the experience, rather than caring about who wins each game or the league?
- Did you play in the standard Ultimate league and find it to be too competitive or intense?
- Have you avoided playing in the standard Ultimate league because you were intimidated?
- Or, are you a veteran Ultimate player who would welcome and easily adjust to a non-competitive style of play?
If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, chances are that you will enjoy participating in Fun League.
While we are currently ironing out the details for the league, what we can assure you is that this league will be different. We’re working off of the same basic rules and fundamentals of Ultimate to maintain the core of the game, but tweaking details here and there to optimize this leagues’ non-competitive and fun spirit. We don’t have any details available yet, but in the near future we will be posting specific rules/etiquette on the SOUPA website so you can learn more about the logistics of this league.
