Some details

 

In terms of accommodations, my grandpa built the cabin way back when, and it was partially remodeled about 10 years ago. It's comfy but still fairly rustic. The cabin is  a 2-level one bedroom one bath with 2 couches to surf on and a combination of about 6 twin and queen beds upstairs. There's a small deck and a dock if you'd like to sleep under the starts. If you and yours would like more privacy, you can find a spot to pitch a tent around the cabin, or stay at either of the campgrounds around the lake. I checked mid-week availability for both the Sunset and Aspen campgrounds, and it looks good right now. I think they like you to reserve 5 days in advance, so if you want to go that route I would do that sooner than later. What to bring

 

Food: I will have carne asada, rice, beans, tortillas, hot dogs, hamburgers, some sodas and PBR's there. Please bring whatever you like to drink, snacks, and maybe a side dish or dessert to share.

 

Toys: Bring boats, and other flotation devices. We have a ski boat and ANCIENT water skis, so if you like to ski or wakeboard and have some better equipment, bring it. If you like to fish, bring your poles and tackle box. There also are some inner tubes and air mattresses, there's a canoe and a small kid raft in the boat house.

 

Gear: Camping/swimming stuff, bug spray, warmer clothes for the evenings. There's a store over at the lodge too, if need be.

 

Again, come up when you can, people will be in and out, I know it's mid-week and most of you actually work for a living. There's no pressure to be there on Tuesday because I usually take the entire month of August to celebrate my birthday anyway... The atmosphere WILL be festive AND relaxing, no matter when you show up.

 

Directions

 

From Ashland, take Dead Indian Memorial Road (I so hate writing that) toward Klamath Falls, about 20 minutes past Howard Prarie to Lake of the Woods. It's about 35 miles. You'll see a sign that says West Side Residences, take a left and drive until you see the sign for cabin S6. Parking is limited, please park on the street and walk down the driveway to the cabin. It's the cabin in the middle with the green roof.

 

From Medford, take Hwy. 140 about 35 miles toward Klamath, and take a right at the sign that says West Side Residences, look for the S6 sign.

 

The extended forecast looks great, up near 100 in Medford next week, high 80's even in Klamath, so the Lake will be the place to be for sure. Can't wait! Let me know if you have questions.
