Well, writing here for the first time.. But I've been reading this
group at least a couple of months :) Now I'll try to make an attempt
to help.

What about the problem of lost messages - yes, it's a pity that more
than 7 months of messages are lost now.. Seems like there was a data
loss in Yahoo databases (uhm.. if only nobody deleted the messages
manually..)

I tried to search if these messages are cached anywhere on search
servers (such as Yahoo, Google, Yandex and others) - but all I could
pick up is just a message list :( (from #2301 to #2404 - these are
from 4/11/2003 till 6/8/2003) The message list URL is:

Yes, at least one Max's message is there (I saw it's #2314, from
4/18/2003), but when I tried to search the message *body* anywhere, I
failed.. :(

The thing is, that some messages can be cached in YOUR computers - I
mean, if you use your own, not public, computer to read groups.
Well.. what can I suggest? You can try to search _any_ files that
contain "maxmirnyi4" (it is about PC, I can't say much about Macs) -
maybe, if you are lucky, you'll find some important (i.e. Max's :) )
messages. If you use Windows 9x, they probably will be
in "C:\Windows\Temporary Internet Files" (or something similar), if
Windows 2000/XP - in "C:\Documents and settings\(your_name)\Local
Settings\Temporary Internet files". Anyway, you can try to do
something.
