Thanks, John.  Pre-registration is definitely the way to go and the system in place works quite well.  Thanks for the clarification on closing the pre-reg on Wednesday.  Sometimes it's good to have a couple extra days, but what you're doing make perfect sense.

Bikopath <bikopath@...> wrote:
Good question Mark,

In most cases when pre-reg is available there will be an additional $10 day of charge.  And in those cases we have to close pre-reg Weds night because the promoter has to get pre-reg data to the timing company and he needs a day to assign new plate numbers then he has to send the data back to me and the promoter Friday and I have to sort out plates and the promoter has to print waivers and registration spreadsheets.  It’s really quite a process but that is what it takes.  And our timing companies have proven to do a great job so we know the process works.

Thanks,
John

Thanks, John.  Will there be a $10.00 charge for race day entry for all the races in the Series?

Bikopath <bikopath@verizon.net> wrote:
Racers,

If you are racing the Bike Line race this Sunday there are a couple important things to mention. First if you are not registered for the series please do so by 5PM this Wednesday if you want your Bike Line race results to count in the series. I have to download all series racer data Weds at 5PM to send to the timing company for number plate assignment.

Same goes for pre-reg for the Bike Line race. If you want to save $10 you must be registered by whatever time on Weds their registration closes. Check BikeReg for the exact time.

Series races can pick up number plates for all classes they registered for at the Bike Line race. Pease allow extra time for this and make sure you tell the registration person if you have plates for multiple classes, including the endurance classes. And please be patient, it's going to be a busy registration since it is the first race.

I have ridden the course and it is great. Your bike wants you to come out and race this race.

Thanks,
John

Yes, there are only team points for the team relay, assuming that:

1)      All of the racers registered for the series prior to the race

2)      The racers are on a roster

Still waiting for the final results from the promoter for the relay.

I just took action to prevent the closure of many New Jersey state parks. Please
do the same!

While I'm not a NJ citizen, here's what I wrote.

=========================

I STRONGLY object to the planned closures for several New Jersey State Parks.
With the ever growing crisis of obesity, the continued land development, and the
lack of active recreation for New Jersey citizens of all ages, it is literally a
LIFE AND DEATH decision for the state and its residents, and these resources
quite seriously provide the health benefits that prevent a number of life
threatening conditions that are related to a lack of physical activity or
obesity.

At a minimum, please preserve Stephens State Park, Round Valley Recreation Area,
Ringwood State Park, and D&R Canal State Park, all of which provide active
recreation.

Of all of the places to cut budget, this is most certainly NOT one of them.
There are HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars of waste in the state budget that are
used in needless spending to secure the re-election of state officials.

Also, there are alternatives to closure, such as usage fees, public/private
partnerships with user organizations, and other avenues to keep these facilities
open.

The web site would not accept my entry,  I assume because I'm a PA resident.  Is there some other method to provide feedback?  They should be made aware of the fact that closing these parks will cause lost tourism revenue too.

Expert/Elite is 2 laps of about 11 miles each.  The BikeReg site has a course map.  I rode all but the no bike section yesterday and it is a great course.  Lots of climbing but several big ring hammer sections.  Save yourself $10 and pre reg on BikeReg.  It closes Weds.

(Posted on forums too - just trying to get to everyone.)

I know, I know, yinzers have probably been very happy that I've kept
my big yap shut so far this year but some news about the visitPA.com
Rocktober Challenge for you -

1. Prereg gets more expensive on the 10th and then closes and then
gets absolutely ludicrous on race day. Seriously, I'm a complete jerk
and am ripping you off on race day since you can't take time to
prereg. So, take a couple minutes and go to bikereg.com to get signed up.

2. The course is a wee bit longer than 100K. More like one hundred
and eleventy K or there abouts. There is a very small chance we'll
cut out a piece, but that would throw off the aid station plan and
we'd lose some of the stellar trail we've been working on for you. If
you're coming you're already figuring on being out there all day long
anyway so this is just more of a good time. Really I'm giving you
even more for your money! You should so be thanking me.

3. If you are planning on coming up you should know that the RB
Winter campground is rapidly filling up. There are several other camp
grounds close to the venue and the closest hotels can be found in
Lewisburg which is about 25-30 min away. visitPA.com should be able
to help you find alternate lodging. By visitPA.com I don't mean Ray
or Wes or Mike or Ry but rather by visiting the website at
www.visitPA.com. However, your best way to get directions to the race
is through our race site.

Please help spread the word to your team mates who don't have hours of
their lives to waste sitting in front of a computer chatting on the
MASS forums.

See you all at French Creek - do your anti-rain jig!

Attention French Creek Racers:

The forecast calls for 1 to 2 inches of rain at the Park on Friday,
but tapering off early in the day. The trails were bone dry yesterday
so we should have a well drained race course Saturday morning. To help
insure that the course is as dry as possible we have pushed back our
start times by one hour, with the exception of the Enduro class which
will now start at 9:30.

As of this point we are still on, keep your fingers crossed!

So I'm standing around with some folks swapping war stories after FC
and they asked me to extend the deadline on the pre-pre-reg cost ($75)
for the race at RB Winter this weekend. They'd been hearing some
great things about the course about how pristine the area is and how
challenging but fun the trails are but hadn't yet signed up on
Bikereg.com and wanted to.

Since I'm such a dang nice guy I said sure and went in there last
night and altered the up charge day and time so that the cost remains
$75 for prereg for a bit longer. So, if you didn't yet sign up hurry
up and do so and you can still take advantage of the lower entry fee
cost.

BTW, the forecast for this weekend is a 30% chance of rain with high
around 65 on race day.

Also, some of the team is planning on hanging out Saturday night and
maybe catching a bit of trail on Sunday morning. We'd be glad to have
you join us....if any of us actually feel like putting our butts on
saddles on Sunday!! Our man at Cannondale is talking about bringing
some of their new bikes out for some demo riding too.

Come on out and do a bit of camping and riding with us!

OK kids…

Looks like we should be all square now.

Please head over and look at the standings and let us know if you find any discrepancies in your team or individual standings.  All events are now in the system.

Please do not reply to this email with issues… only if you want to tell the MASS directors how cool we are etc.  Email regarding standing discrepancies should be sent to support@...

If you sent an email already, your issue should be fixed.  If not, email us again.

Thanks again for your patience with all of this!  now go ride your bike….

Peace,

Todd
