Endurance Events of the year. We also still have cabins available, all
that is up on Bikereg as well.
Get your climbing legs ready!
Didn't get everything: Warmed up,Raced, schmoozed, etc.

First I will say I am happy to call Eric Krone my team mate. Eric is also one of several dedicated Guy’s racers that put many thankless hours into the Neshaminy course every year.
I think the rider at the ambulance may have been Wes Schempf. Wes if you are listening we hope you are okay. And the several others that had some minor injuries we hope you are okay as well.
Don’t forget the STXC at Hybernia this Sunday afternoon. And the duathlon in the morning is a great event as well.

Looks like we got a break on the weather. The Bike
Line Folks have been working really hard to put on a high quality race. A
couple brief updates:
There will be no endurance plate pickup. We decided it
would be better to do that at French Creek. But if you registered for the
series in multiple XC classes please ask for those plates at the series racer/not
pre-reg registration spot. The people handling pre-reg only will not have
your other class plates. You have to go to the right spot which is where
they will be registering series racers that did not pre-register for this race.
Be patient because we will have to look your plate numbers up for each
category. But get them now so they don’t get lost or used in error.
License numbers – you may have heard me mention these
or read about them on the website. You do not need to worry about these
for the Bike Line Race because we are using our primary timing company
ProRacing Timing. He has your license number in his MASS racer database.
But so you know the deal we are issuing all racers a single MASS
license number for scoring purposes. There will be races where you
will have to look up you license number on a print out at the registration forms
table (or pull it from a report I post) and record it on your MASS waiver.
This will be the case at most STXC’s and marathons. This makes it
possible for alternate timing companies or a race promoter to use their own
number plates (or no number plates in the case of chips) and supply us with
results with your license numbers so we can handle series scoring.
Please remember, The MASS does not directly deal with race
specific issues such as race registration, race fees, etc. Please direct them
to the race promoters. If you are not sure who that is, check the race
schedule on the MASS website… contacts are listed there. http://www.masuperseries.com/MASS2008/schedule08.html
Please also keep in mind that when you email the mass yahoo
group, everyone in the group gets the email.  Please only email the group if
it is something that that you are sure everyone (or most) in the group would
want to receive. Otherwise, please either use the forums(http://masuperseries.com/cgi-bin/phpbb/index.php)
or if it is related to MASS and you want to get with the directors, email support@... – that goes
to all directors.
Sorry to have to be a pain in the arse about this, but we get a
lot of complaints from people that get these emails. Thanks again for your
understanding.

Hi John,
Since Bikereg is becoming such a large
part of the MASS and pre-registering is highly recommended, it would be
comforting to know that all of the events accepting rep-registration would
also have a policy of refunding race entries in the event the event is
cancelled due to rain, weather, etc. I have registered for events
in the past that were cancelled due to rain (not a MASS event) and entry fees
were not refunded. It left a bitter taste in my mouth and I have avoided
this promotors events ever since. It is one thing if I pre-register and
then I am unable to go, but a whole 'nother animal if the event is cancelled
due to rain.

April 19th! Mark you calenders for a great cause and a day of riding
sweet trails. The Rally is basically our annual fund raiser to help
us maintain the trails in Wiss and promote positive bike vibes to the
powers to be, so please come out and show your support. All proceeds
go right back into the sweet trails. We are having a raffle to give
away some nice swag thanks to the support of our local bike shops,
including complete bikes. A free BBQ and if it rains we're just going
to eat under the tents and raffle off the prizes anyway.
There will be three marked courses for intro, intermediate, and
expert riders. We're also going have guided rides and something for
the kids to ride at registration. There is also going to be a girls
ride, minus the smelly dudes. For more details please check out our
site, were we also have a forum. http://www.phillymtb.com

If you are
racing the Bike Line race this Sunday there are a couple important things to
mention. First if you are not registered for the series please do so by 5PM
this Wednesday if you want your Bike Line race results to count in the series.
I have to download all series racer data Weds at 5PM to send to the timing
company for number plate assignment.
Same goes for pre-reg for the Bike Line race. If you want to save $10 you must
be registered by whatever time on Weds their registration closes. Check BikeReg
for the exact time.
Series races can pick up number plates for all classes they registered for at
the Bike Line race. Pease allow extra time for this and make sure you tell the
registration person if you have plates for multiple classes, including the
endurance classes. And please be patient, it's going to be a busy registration
since it is the first race.
I have ridden the course and it is great. Your bike wants you to come out and
race this race.

If you are racing the
Bike Line race this Sunday there are a couple important things to mention.
First if you are not registered for the series please do so by 5PM this
Wednesday if you want your Bike Line race results to count in the series. I
have to download all series racer data Weds at 5PM to send to the timing
company for number plate assignment.
Promoters are getting set for the relay this weekend and are trying to
asses if a kids race will be in order.
Please go to the forums (link below) and let us know if you will have
kids there to race.

March
28, 2008; Conshohocken, PA, USA: Organizers of Maryland’s
Greenbrier Challenge mountain bike race on April 27 have announced that the
event will be filmed as part of the upcoming feature movie “MAX VO2 The
Potential Inside” starring Ransford Doherty and co-starring champion
American mountain bikers Jeremiah Bishop and Chris Eatough. The film,
scheduled for theatrical release in 2009, is a fictional drama of relationships
set against the backdrop of professional cycling.
The
Greenbrier Challenge is already one of America’s most prestigious annual
mountain bike races and the new-found Hollywood presence will only increase its
visibility. According to the Executive Producer, Scotty Curlee of Red
Cloud Productions, “We are looking at a probable distribution to 56
countries. Already, the movie’s website has been viewed in over
1,670 cities worldwide, and we haven’t even finished filming
yet.”
The
high-tech aspect of mountain biking is one of the things the movie’s
producer is focusing on, “This movie is going to be technically
accurate. I cringe when I see things in movies like bike racers shifting
to a lower gear to go faster. I used to race as a semi-pro myself, which
is how I know Jeremiah (Bishop) and Chris (Eatough), so I’m making sure
this is an accurate portrayal,” said Curlee recently. “Plus,
we’ve hired Hunter Allen of the Peaks Coaching Group, who is known as one
of the foremost authorities on power meter training in cycling as one of our
consultants. This isn’t going to be like Tom Cruise’s
“Days of Thunder.” Mainstream viewers are going to be surprised
at how technical bike racing is, and cyclists are going to be pleased with how
accurate the scenes are, even though it’s a completely fictional
story.”
For
more information on the movie, see www.maxvo2themovie.com
Racers
are encouraged to come race and be part of the background for the movie.
With a limit of just 700 entries, potential racers are being urged to reserve
their starting spot ahead of time to avoid being shut-out on race day.
