Too HUGE to be contained in one day, The Tour de Tykes Mountain Bike Festival has grown into a weekend of merriment unrivaled in modern history!

Who? - Anyone that enjoys music, nonsense, camping, bonfires, and world class cross country mountain bike racing.

What? - Tour de Tykes Mountain Bike Race and Hess Festival.

Where? - Meadow Lane in Danville, PA and the Geisinger Stewardship Forest.

When? - June 6th & 7th, 2009

Why? - Because good people like dirt!

How? - To get more information:www.tourdetykes.com

Here's what's on tap:

Noon - Official start time of the event (but you can get there as early as Friday evening if you want and extra night of camping).

12:30 p.m. - Kids fun race

1:00 p.m. - Skills park challenge - held on our new and growing mountain bike skill park area.

3:00 p.m. - Bike Demolition Derby - Yes, it's what you think it is.

4:00 p.m. - Xterra race - short track lap race with hills, stream crossing and more!

6:00 p.m. - First Band begins - The Salamanders

6:30 p.m. - Huffy toss - Yes, this is what you think it is also.

8:00 p.m. - Second band begins with the lighting of the bonfire - To be Announced on the website.

10:30 p.m. - Lights out for campers (so you can get some sleep for Sunday).

* PRIZES - The top point winner will receive a Rocky Mountain DJ Jump bike frame!

Sunday - Tour de Tykes Cross Country Mountain Bike Race

This race is part of the Mid-Atlantic Super Series (MASS) and the River Towns Race Series.

This single lap race is 90% sweet single track trails with only a few short sections of fire roads included to get from one point to another.

8:30 a.m. - Beginners race - 8+ miles of hills, rocks and fun.  A "do-able" challenge for most.

10:30 a.m. - Expert race - If you're a hammer, you won't want to miss this race.  If you're a fan, you won't want to miss this race.

11:00 a.m. - Sport race - Bring your fitness as this course is as challenging as it is fun and beautiful.

* PRIZES - Participants will receive mugs, medals, lapel pins and other race memorabilia that is a step above the standard race fare.  Expert racers compete for a share of the day's purse.

All proceeds benefit the Children's Miracle Network and the Parks and Recreational Facilities of Montour County.
