Hello everyone;
Couple of notes for the end of the trimester. First, obviously the
trimester is over--we had our last meeting last Friday. I will not be
at fencing until May 4th. At that time, we will have (tentatively)
three months of review practice with the veterans. I typically do not
want to teach new students in the summer so I can focus a little more
on the current students. I might have one new student--he & I are
currently discussing this idea. At any rate, hopefully I will have
personal one-on-one time with folks.
I say this at tentatively because New Providence tells me that they
will be starting new construction sometime in the summer. Obviously
this will affect our schedule if we stay at New Providence. I say if,
because hopefully you guys will seriously consider my proposal about
y'all creating a sanctioned club and possibly finding a better place
to meet. At any rate, a point to consider.
Some of you have asked about having the facilities for the month of
April. I've asked New Providence and they have two Fridays open, the
13th and the 27th. They want responsible adults to be there so I hope
Mrs. Smith and or Mr. Luna will be able to be there to supervise. If
not, I'd suggest y'all not meet.
Now, for folks who were not at our last meeting, we had a little
excitement. While practicing sabre with a veteran fencer, my blade
snapped and the fragment went sailing over the spectators. For this
reason, I'm going to implement a new policy that parents will have to
sit next to the far wall to limit the same thing happening again. In
addition, I'd like to remind everyone that things like this, while
rare, do happen. Finally, having a sanctioned club would include an
accidental insurance policy that would cover liability should
something like this happen again.
What else? The West Knox fencers would like to host a tournament
sometime in the summer. I am shooting for a June tournament. I will
post more when I have it.
Lastly, if anyone is receiving these emails and wishes not to,
contact me with the email you wish to have removed from the list.
