The Paddy Crean workshop is fast approaching. It looks like it will be one of the biggest yet. The workshop is making it's final push for registration. While the Banff site says that the registration deadline is the 1st of December, it is still possible to register.
Due to scheduling problems with other commitments, Maestro Martinez will not be teaching at the workshop.
The Paddy Crean has a very different organization set up. The schedule of classes is the last thing they work on. For those of us who are used to seeing classes listed and choosing to attend the event based on those classes, this workshop can seem unorganized. Let me reassure you that the Paddy Crean workshops I have attend in the past have all been run very professionally, this years workshop is no exception. The schedule will be up in the next week or so.
I will be there teaching. I will be teaching two progressive classes ( classes that build on the previous class), extended class ( 3 to 4 hrs) and a master class (1 1/2 hrs to 2 hrs).
La Verdadera Destreza: Spanish Rapier and Dagger (Progressive class)
The art of rapier and dagger within La Verdadera Destreza is vastly different from single rapier. In this weapons combination the elements of time, movement and space radically change the nature of the interplay. Coordinated footwork and balance become even more critical because of the increased variety possible with the combination of weapons, as either can be used offensively or defensively. This progressive class will introduce the student to the complex art of Spanish rapier and dagger. The focus will be on understanding how to manipulating time and distance to put the swordsman in the best position to attack or defend.
Italian Rapier and Dagger (Progressive class)
The focus of this class will be on the variety of the placement of the sword and dagger depending on the offensive or defensive nature of the interplay.
Extended Class on the French school of Small Sword
The students will go through the fundamental concepts of the French school of small sword. This will cover guard positions, footwork, hand positions, parries, and the concept of opposition.
Master class on street fighting techniques with the Small Sword.
This class will focus on the techniques possible that can be employed in street fighting; such as disarms, jamming and take downs.
I will also be available for private lessons with students. If you have interest in that please contact me directly so I can schedule you in.
Sincerely,
Jeannette
