Posted on behalf of Jared Kirby:
The Capo Ferro Translation Project is happy to announce the completion of
the translation of "Gran Simulacro dell'arte e dell'uso della scherma". It
will be published by Greenhill Books as "Italian Rapier Combat" and will be
available in Feb/March of 2004! This book will include the first complete,
professional translation of Capo Ferro's treatise, his 43 plates and a
complete glossary of his fencing terms compiled by Maestri Ramon Martinez
and Jeannette Acosta-Martinez.
For more information, excerpts from the book and to PRE-ORDER your copy of
the book go to http://www.martinez-destreza.com/capoferro.htm. All
pre-ordered copies through this link will also be signed!
For those that are not familiar with the Capo Ferro Translation project, it
was started in the spring of 2000 to help raise funds for professional
translations of historical fencing treatise, starting with Capo Ferro's
great work. The profits from "Italian Rapier Combat" will help to pay for
future translations in order to unlock the knowledge of historical fencing
masters to the English speaking world. This project could never have
succeeded without the support of the following patrons, who I am forever
indebted to for their generous donations:
Michael Anderson, Mtre Alexander Deme, Antone Blair, William S. Ernoehazy,
Jr. Steaphen Fick, Craig Johnson, Fred Kutz, John Lennox, Chris Lyon, Kevin
P. Menard, Jason Porter, Martin Reznick, Tim Ruzicki, Dave Storrs, William
Wilson, Art of Combat, Sussex Rapier Society, The School of European
Swordsmanship, The School of the Sword, The Stoccata School of Defence.
