He  was never offered a contract by the Florida Marlins, so he couldn't have turned it down.

A 39 year old pitcher who isn't left handed would be pretty old, unless he had a hell of a fast ball. I checked http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/ and couldn't find his name within 10 years, not including gulf coast and Arizona summer leagues which are both college recruiting leagues where top age is about 25. Unless he was brought straight from college to pro ball, where I could not find his name either. Does he live like he has been making 3 million a year for the last 15 years?
