Any Marlin fan who has hopes for future success of the team must say
NO to Gonzalez.
I agree that he can sometimes save a run with a spectacular play. But
while he has grown more consistent in the field, he is still prone to
stupid decisions at SS and on the basepaths. Furthermore, the Marlins
cannot afford to punt two spots in the batting order. As much as I
love redmond, he will be an unproductive .280+ hitter for tjhe rest
of his career.
No doubt a team would take a flier on Gonzalez, perhaps surrounding a
prospect to add to the stockpile. And as crazy as it sounds, what
would be wrong with trying Cabrera at short? The Marlins could give
Nunez or AA OF Eric Reed a shot, and if either experiment fails then
you could trade for a true ss. eogroups.com, "alphamonkey12000"
