Gonzalez or no Gonzalez?   Message List

Castro vs. Redmond (was Re: Gonzalez or no Gonzalez?)

I agree with that totally. There aren't posts about Castro because
there's really no controversy......He's just awful. There's pros and
cons to Alex Gonzalez, while Castro may become a con soon (sorry, that
was out of line. Couldn't resist). Hopefully Jack will give most of
the playing time to Mike Redmond, who's a decent hitter and works a
lot better with the pitchers. There was an article in the
Sun-Sentinel about how Castro was having trouble asserting himself
over the pitching staff. Here's the link.

if his life depended on it and he is at best average defensively. If
we need anything its a better catcher.

It's fairly clear that Alex Gonzalez is a regular in the Marlins' starting lineup because of his glove. He's batting .195 this season with an on-base...

I have very mixed emotions about Alex! NO DOUBT he is a great fielder! BUT so many times I'm frustrated when he comes to bat with a chance to contribute and he...

I think Alex Gonzalez is not producing enough runs to be able to stay in the starting lineup. I think before the All-Star break they need to look for a...

I disagree completely. I could live with his .200 average (which is usually not that low...it will rise). The guy saves you atleast 6-7 runs a week. His...

Any Marlin fan who has hopes for future success of the team must say NO to Gonzalez. I agree that he can sometimes save a run with a spectacular play. But ...

I wonder if Lenny Harris can play catcher? There's some debate regarding Gonzalez, who is an outstanding fielder, and at least he's hit well in stretches....
