Kane County Cougars at Beloit Snappers
Friday, July 12th, 2002
Pohlman Field, Beloit, Wisconsin

After scoring all five of their runs in the first two
games, the Cougars would give up seven unanswerd runs.
Ronaldo Belizario got charged for all seven of those
runs, only a couple of those were earned.

Both teams made three errors and many more mistakes
that only counted one the run column.

Belizario pitched into the sixth inning, from the
start his defense wasn't all the way behind him. In
the first inning and error led to a run. He left the
game giving up four runs and striking out only one.

The Cougars got the game off to a good start right
away. With one out, Kris Clute walked then stole
second. On the throw to second it went into
centerfield, and Clute would get to third. Jason
Stokes then reached on an error. On the play the throw
from the short stop Ozzie Chavez was high, also on the
play Clute scored. Scott Hicks was then hit in the hip
by a pitch. Michael Tucker reached on another error by
Chavez. He bobbled the grounder, with the bobble the
bases became loaded. Dan Ortiz then grounded one to
third, the third baseman Chris Barnwell threw home and
got Stokes out. Angel Molina then ended the inning
with another fielder's choice.

The Snappers came back in the bottom of the inning
with a run. Ralph Santana walked. Ozzie Chavez bunted
him over to second. Dan Boyd walked. Brad Nelson then
lined one that hit the lip of the infield, and went
threw the legs of second baseman Clute for an error.
On the play Santana scored. Florian Villanueva and
Travis Hinton then both grounded out to end the
inning.

Four runs for the Cougars in the second inning. Rex
Rundgren reached on an infield single to short.
Anthony Brewer doubled to left to allow Rundgren to
score. On the play the throw home was a little high
which allowed Brewer to get to third. Charles Frazier
singled to center to score Brewer. Kris Clute doubled
to center to get Frazier to third. Jason Stokes popped
out to short for the first out. Scott Hicks singled to
left to score Frazier. Michael Tucker then reached on
an infield single to third. On the play Clute would
score. The inning would end on a double play hit into
by Dan Ortiz.

After that the Cougars wouldn't get past second base
in the rest of the game. At one point the Snappers
pitcher would put down ten Cougars in a row.

The third inning saw the Snappers crawl back with
shouting distance. Santana led off with a singled to
right, then went to second on a wild pitch. Chavez
singled to short. Boyd flied to left to get Santana to
score. Brad Nelson then hit another sacrifice fly this
time Chavez would score.

Belizario did a nice job in the fourth to not allow a
run. Hinton grounded out to short. Barnwell then
grounded out to short for the second out. Then Jason
Belcher doubled to left. Terry Mayo grounded out to
second to end the inning.

The worst of the night was in the fifth and sixth
innings. In the fifth, Santana reached on an infield
single to short. Chavez grounded out to second. Dan
Boyd reached on an error by third baseman Michael
Tucker. On the play the ball went off of his glove and
into left field. Santana would score on the play. Brad
Nelson singled to center to score Boyd.

The sixth inning, Chris Barnwell walked, as did Jason
Belcher. Terry Mayo bunted then over to second and
third. Santana grounded one to third. Tucker threw
home and Barnwell was called safe. The Cougars then
did a smart thing, they made a pitching change to
bring in Tim Schilling. Chavez grounded out. Boyd then
struck out to end the inning.

Notes-Watch out Cougars fans, we have our own little
old bell lady. This one can actually ring the bell
longer than once up and once down at a time. But do me
one favor don't sit next to her when she rings the
bell, it's loud, and unfortunatly I know just how loud
it really is. Oh by the way she is Sue Warner so watch
out Max and Marc. Eventhough she only rings it when
the Cougars do something good, so it could gather some
cob webs till next year at this rate.
