LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez left Tuesday night's game
against the Reds after getting hit by a Homer Bailey fastball on the side of his
left hand.
X-rays were negative and the Dodgers slugger is listed as day to day.
The 95-mph pitch came with Ramirez leading off the third inning and the Dodgers
leading the Reds, 4-1. Ramirez had a two-run triple in the bottom of the first
inning and made a running catch in the left-center gap on Joey Votto to end the
top of the third inning.
Ramirez returned July 3 from a 50-game suspension for violating the Major League
Baseball drug policy. He was replaced in Tuesday night's game by Juan Pierre,
who started all 50 games for Ramirez during the suspension.
Ramirez is batting .343 with 10 homers and 33 RBIs in 42 games. His home run
Monday night was career No. 537, moving past Mickey Mantle for 15th place on the
all-time list.
