Hi everyone,
I was lucky enough to be at the game last night (althought it was about 100
degrees - yuck!) and see Manny's home run. I was psyched because usually when I
go he doesn't have a good game! Here are some interesting stats I read in the
paper this morning - very impressive:
Manny Ramirez's leadoff homer off Brian Sikorski in the sixth inning was his
30th of the season, allowing him to reach the plateau for the 11th time in his
career, including each of the last nine seasons. Ramirez, who extended his
hitting streak to 18 games with the clout, tied Willie Mays, Mark McGwire, Frank
Robinson and Sammy Sosa for 30-homer seasons. The only players with more are
Hank Aaron (15), Barry Bonds (14), Babe Ruth/Mike Schmidt (13) and Jimmie Foxx
(12).
Ramirez’s 465th regular-season homer also tied him with Dave Winfield for 26th
on the all-time list. He now has 1,499 RBI, leaving him one shy of becoming the
45th player ever to reach 1,500.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
Angelica
