Fellow Discers All!
As many of you may know by now, we've successfully put in a bid to Clambake.
A word on the tourney: this is one of the more intense college and club tournaments around, with the top teams from all over competing. It's held at Bowdoin College during the last weekend of September (the Saturday and Sunday) – the 29th and 30th.
This bid was put in as a Maine Youth Ultimate team – to be comprised of players, alumni, coaches, family, and friends of High School Ultimate in Maine. Basically, if you're reading this email, you're very welcome to play. And we need you! (College students, you too!)
This is a seriously competitive tournament. This means we need a seriously competitive team to show the world what Maine Youth Ultimate is about! I don't want to scare people off with this paragraph – but I do want to get a serious effort out there for more players! There'll be teams with 20 + players there. We're a whole state! Let's do the same. Spread the word!
We especially need some more women on the team to fulfill the 4-3 gender ration in our division. Talk it up with all your Ulti friends, and have them send me an email if interested, even just for one of the two days.
AND let's try to fulfill one of our original goals: to have each high school ultimate team from the state of Maine represented! At least one player, but more is better! Let's really put out a big effort on this. Please pass this email around and talk it up!
Obviously it would be great if we could have some practices before the tourney. Given our statewide situation, that's obviously hard. BUT, we thought that here in Camden and Belfast (a somewhat central location) we could open our pickup games as Clambake training sessions. Carpool up, bring the gang, and head over to the Camden/Rockport Middle school at 4:30 on Sundays and/or the waterfront in Belfast at 5:30 on Wednesdays and Fridays! If we can know our a team a little before the tourney that'd be huge. Let's do it!
There will be a small players fee for this tourney. The fee for the team is $450, so what everyone will have to pitch in depends on how many players we have. Maine Youth Ultimate may also be contributing to the cause – many thanks in advance for that!
Please feel free to get in touch with me at 207-596-0421 or danjidanji@... about anything. I've attached a pdf of our accepted bid just so people know what's up with that. Many HUGE thanks to Hash for his backing and initiative on this effort.
If you are able to make it, please RSVP as soon as you can so I can start figuring the team out.
Many thanks in advance – let's get this thing rolling and get our momentum up!
Yours in Disc,
-Danji Buck-Moore
