Hi Guys,
I know many of you will start arriving for Mundial this weekend and early next
week.
Please consider, if you are in town on Monday coming to our kids class down in
Homestead.
Even though we've been talking about Mundial for months being down in
Homestead the kids miss out on the excitement in the greater Miami area. Many of
you are sponsoring them for mundial and have also sponsored them for our holiday
party in the past.
We talk to them about all of our academies around the world that are part of the
Maculele family... we want to expose them to that world as much as possible. The
more positive role models we can bring into their lives the better. Come meet
them!
Class is from 5 to 6 PM on Monday. Mestre Azulao will probably be there as well.
If you're a local you should come too! We don't see you guys in Homestead nearly
enough.
My number is 850 339 4883
Thanks!!!
Axe'
Valentona
I know Mestre Azulao has been singing some new songs at roda and is teaching us
in class so here are the lyrics
Estrela que brilha no céu da Bahia
que brilha no céu da Bahia, me guia
Estrela
Estrela que brilha no céu da Bahia
que brilha no céu da Bahia, me guia
A noite na Bahia
brilha cada vez mais
no chão daquela terra
Seu Bimba descansa em paz
Estrela
Apontando para a estrela
no leito abandonado
Mestre Pastinha disse
eu vou brilhar do teu lado
Estrela
O seu clarear tão forte
clareava o terreiro
onde Seu Waldemar
tocava Gunga voizeiro
Estrela
Estrela que iluminava
fazenda do senhor
ilumina o caminho
me leva a Salvador
Estrela
Eu vou pela barra fora
na volta que o mundo dá
estrela que me conduz
brilha no céu de lá
Estrela
VENTO QUE BALANCA A CANA NO CANAVIAL
Vento que balanca a cana no canavial
Vento que balanca a cana no canavial
Refrao:
Na varanda da casa-grande
Coronel descansava na rede
Escravo no canavial
Morria de fome e de sede
Refrao:
Na capela da fazenda
Sinhá ia confessar
Coberta com manto de renda
Ajoelhada no altar
Refrao:
Sinhorinho no terreiro
Maltratava o ere
A mucama na cozinha
Lamentava por nada fazer
Refrao:
Capataz atordoado
Acordando em desespero
Uma família dos escravos
Havia fugido do cativeiro

THE FUND HAS BEEN IN HIS ACCOUNT WITH THE BANK WITHOUT ANY CLAIM OF THE FUND IN OUR CUSTODY EITHER FROM HIS FAMILY OR RELATION BEFORE OUR DISCOVERY TO THIS DEVELOPMENT.ALTHOUGH PERSONALLY, I KEPT THIS INFORMATION SECRET WITHIN MYSELF TO ENABLE THE WHOLE PLANS AND IDEA BE PROFITABLE AND SUCCESSFUL DURING THE TIME OF EXECUTION. IN FACT I COULD HAVE DONE THIS DEAL ALONE BUT BECAUSE OF MY POSITION IN THIS COUNTRY AS A CIVIL SERVANT, WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO OPERATE A FOREIGN ACCOUNT AND WOULD EVENTUALLY RAISE AN EYE BROW ON MY SIDE DURING THE TIME OF TRANSFER BECAUSE I WORK IN THIS BANK. As some of you have or have not heard yet, my job has provided us an opportunity to help raise a good amount of donations for the group. Zoological Society of Florida (www.miamimetrozoo.com) will be donating a set percentage for every membership to the zoo purchased thanks to a referral from our group. This is actually a great opportunity and an easy sell. Memberships are valid for one full year from the date of purchase, are actually very economical, and give massive discounts.
for every individual Membership ($50.00) we receive $5.00 {benefits good for one adult}
for every dual Membership ($64.00) we receive $10.00 {benefits good for 2 individuals}
for every Family Membership ($109) and up we receive $20.00 {benefits good for 2 adults and up to 6 children under the age of 18)
If any of you would like to become members or have friends that would like to become members (or even renew their existing membership) please let them know how they can help out our group and pass along this great offer to them. Attached is a flyer with a sign up form and directions as well as a summer savings pass offer that the metro zoo is offering its members. If any of you have any questions, please call me or email me any time. They can also sign up over the phone or at the zoo itself, just ask them to mention that they were referred by out capoeira group so we can receive the credit.
Also, if any of you know of any upcoming events or locations that you think you can get permission to have myself or a fellow staff member come out to sign people up, please speak with me to make arrangements. I'm looking for , churches, summer camps, soccer teams, baseball teams, office parties, lobbies of major offices. Please let me know, as any memberships sold at these locations would also help our group. So please take the pdf, print it out, put it in your coworkers mail boxes, forward it to your friends and family. Every little bit helps.
I haven't, for the life of me, been able to find any. Mestre Fran improvises them most of the time, but I do have a live recording of him singing the song, if you'd like it.

Hi everyone!
Does anyone have a recording of or lyrics for Voa voa vo andorinha?
Not sure who wrote it.
Hey all, dont know if anybody has seen this clip but for those who haven't you might find it interesting. Sent to me by my brother-in-law and time for me to share with you all.
I'm not sure if people get email updates when you send out an update... people may miss out on information.
We stopped using our facebook group altogether at Emory.

We are starting our Portuguese classes back up again!
Registration Starts now!
Classes run from May 4th to May 30th
Now with two schedules to choose from
1) Mon/Wed 9pm-10pm Friday 7pm-8pm Bate Papo
or
2) Tues/Thur 9pm-10pm Friday 7pm-8pm Bate Papo
This class will focus on the verbal basics of Brazilian Portuguese. This month
long course is for those serious about learning Portuguese. This is very
important to us and our art. Its also a requirement to become a graduado with
me. So much of the history and knowledge of capoeira is known by Mestres who
only speak Portuguese. It also will help with knowing what you are singning at
roda :)
The goal is for every student at the end of one month be able to speak only in
Portuguese for 1 hour.
Course fee is just $25.00
Come see me today to sign up!

This is a win win win program
The school wins
New students win
And YOU win!
Here is the new program:
Every Wednesday (or Thursday/friday if you dont make it in) grab a pack of 100
flyers I have ready for you. And just pass them out. Its pretty easy to do,
especially when you see how small a stack of 100 is. Just make sure you write
down where you passed them out. If you can't manage to pass out 100 just bring
back what you didn't get out and we will refresh your stack for the next week.
No big deal!
Here is the good part for you. I am extending the $50 referral bonus to this
program. So when I ask a new student how they heard about us, if they say they
got a flyer, and its from one of your places, you get 50 bucks on the spot!
The school wins with more students which will help with upgrading our academy
among other things
The new students win because they get capoeira
and YOU win with $50

Really cool, I'm looking forward to it Anne-Marie. The exhibit yesterday was
awesome, such visceral pieces. I don't know if the kids picked up on the same
feeling but I thought it was very intense.
