Soooo....anyone who would like to chat about Maaori Weaponry...Bring it

I will keep you updated and hopefully help in answering any questions
you might have in regards to our indigenous Weaponry of Aotearoa (New

I am in the states, email me at gabecharboneau@..., and
I'll see who I can put you intouch with. Though I know a ton who do
Haka, and what they call wero (Actually more of Whaka atu ranga or
demo of skills, a true wero can only be done on the marae), there are
few who actually know the Mau arts (Rakau or otherwise) As a Kali,
lua, and ther PI martial artist, I know the Kali arts, blend
firsthand and rightly so with the common historical, anthropological,
and cultural connections. I know that our Lua Kaumatua in Hawaii,
often hold exchanges together at Kam schools in Honoululu, and there
was supposed to be one this year as well, so you may have to travel a
bit.

hi,
I only speak english, and a smattering of other... not yours unfortunately.
It is a beautiful language, though, and maybe someday y'all will have me
there, and I will learn, but not in the near future. The beauty of a people
can be seen in the beauty of it's weaponry. Patu, mere, kotiate,
versus..guns and bombs! (Sorry, I seem to be waxing political.) The use of
such weapons (mastery) is a most beautiful art and path to self realization,
don't you think? Well, I'm Brad.... pleased to meet you. Peace, Brad

Kia ora ehoa,

To save you a lot of shipping costs from Aotearoa to the States there's an
excellent carver in Hawaii who is a professional carver by trade who carves
at the Polynesian Cultural Center. His name is William Mahoni of Tainui /
Tuwharetoa / Tongan descent. He's a protégé of Barney Christie who was one
of the original tauira in Pene Taiapa's wananga for carving. Here are his
contact details.
