Hi Emilie,
I'm Jeff. There is a very large TNT group here in Monterey, and you
may want to check it out if you are interested in keeping with that
charity. The masters program at the sports center is a no starter. I
have talked at length with managers and the top guys who run the
arboretum at the center and the schedule is just too tight, and the
instructors are too few. They are a community pool serving the
community at large, not necessarily athletes... as you may have found,
the sports center is more of a retirement community than anything else
:) They have a lot of water aerobics and kids swim training, but thats
it. However, there are a lot of great swimmers at NPS and in the area
in general, and there are hopes that when the new sports center in
Marina is finished that a masters program will develop there
considering that facility will be geared towards athletes and not the
areas large retired population. If you'd like to work on swimming let
me know, I could probably help. There is another guy on MT2T that is a
really great swimmer also, Wes, who might be able to help you out with
some workouts or something (I'll let him speak for himself).
Cheers,
JP
