Happy New Year, all.
All great things must come to an end, and alas, I have to PCS. I
would like to hand off my M2T2 duties to someone. Anyone who wants
to volunteer, please send me a private email (not replying to this
email, which will post it on the website).
Background: I arrived at NPS in Jun 04 very fired up about
triathlon. I heard about M2T2 and found the website. There has
been up-and-down participation over the years at the website and
group training, which is to be expected with full time military
students. After my arrival, there were several aborted attempts at
structure/organization/meetings by several individuals with lofty
but perhaps unrealistic ideas (of others' interest and their own
commitment). So I stepped in to facilitate this website. I also
registered the club at USAT and did some other stuff. This did not
take a great deal of time. My primary goal was to not let M2T2
waste away into nothing. I say this to let any volunteers know that
my duties do not require a big time commitment, and at the same
time, do not expect a club with regular meetings, etc. At the very
least, we are a forum for info passage on the local tri scene. Bi-
weekly training would be one thing I could see happening if a few
motivated individuals take the lead. It's been tried before, but
since it's the beginning of the triathlon season, and a new group of
NPS students just arrived, this may work.
If you want to volunteer, I only ask you:
- browse the messages over the last 20 months to get an idea of what
my duties have been. this will tell you most of what you need to
know - will save both of us time.
- make a commitment to post here regularly. don't simply give up if
people don't respond enthusiastically to your initiative. they
probably won't, that's ok. just keep passing info.
The two main things you'll do are:
- moderate the yahoo website
- act as the club president wrt USAT - registration, passing info,
etc.
Does not take a big time commitment at all. A good way to get smart
on the local/regional tri scene. Let me know soon please if you're
interested. Happy triathloning everyone. Thanks. Ed
