> I only had a few names and then I also sent the notices to the usergroup.
I saw the notice for the first one on the M2T2 Yahoo! board (with very
little advanced warning before the meeting), but a number of us (I
remember Mindy commenting as well) didn't see any notice about the
second, on the yahoo board at least. Not a big deal, you 2 Mikes appear
to be setting some good groundwork. I'll echo the recent comment (which
I made earlier as well) that once everything gets organized, a notice on
the NPS Student Signin page about what the group is, where the website
is, how to join, and a good 2-week notice before any meeting would be
vital to get the word out. Very few new people know about this group.
If on the student checkin page we post something like "Seasoned
Triathlete? Merely thinking about dusting off your bike and entering
your first triathlon? Look no further than M2T2..." blah blah blah. It
will peak some interest. Advance warning at both the yahoo site and
student signin page are the keys. But I'd recommend this doesn't happen
until a schedule of training events and the "winter du" series Mike
posted about is solidified. We don't want to get people excited then
say "stay tuned."
my 2 cents for group training
- maybe start off every other week
-- a brick the 1st and 3rd Sat (or 2nd and 4th), leave from NPS gym at
7am sharp, some days bike north past Marina, return to the gym, then run
around the base for a while
-- some days, bike south, do a lap or 2 of the PG (or continue to
17-mile drive once in a while) then either run back at the gym or the PG
run loop
- if interest warrants, do it every week, maybe substitute an ocean swim
once a month
- that's my input, but I'm on board with whatever is decided by the "old
heads"
> We'd love to have you inherit the yahoo stuff or at least discuss it with
Capt. McFerron and myself.
Ok, I'll go for it. I'll email the current "owner" and get the lowdown.
