Ben,<br><br>"My question is; How effective is
such an attack against Wing Chun."<br><br>Simple. If
you do not block the kick it is very effective. The
head is a heavy yet delicate organ,<br>if hit hard the
brain will hit the inside of the skull cavity and can
cause concussion. If you block the kick however it can
leave the kicker exposed to various groin and sweeping
attacks.<br><br>"I also query how you would be able to utilise Wing
Chun if knocked to the floor by an
opponent"<br><br>This depends very much on how quickly you can get up.
This is a variable that is governed by a) the
resilience of the guy who has been kicked and b) the power
of the kick. It should also be remembered that once
the Adrenaline has started pumping some people feel
very little pain until after the event.<br><br>If you
do get floored it can be very difficult to get back
up again especially if your attacker(s) is/are still
standing and treating you like a football.<br><br>Best
advice here would be to roll into a ball to protect the
head and try to roll away from the attack to regain
your stance.<br><br>I have trained a degree of
ground-work in the past but it is completely useless against
multiple attackers.<br><br>On the other hand if you train
your wing chun stance correctly, people will find it
hard to topple you.<br><br>Regards,<br><br><br>Steve.
