Slow Down!   Message List

Seems that some students get a kick out of performing a form quickly,
or skimp on some of the more subtle moves.

I guess this is expected to some degree, as having struggled to learn
a form in the first place, they get a feel good by racing through it.

Trouble is no matter how familiar a student may be with a form,
performing it slowly, or at the suggested pace helps put things into
perspective.

If you cannot see what you are doing how can you tell if it is
correct or not?

Slow down and absorb the techniques, let them cement themselves into
your mind and body.

An example here is Sil Nim Tao, where the slower it is performed, the
greater the benefit.

Your comments please,

Steve.
