Rich,

Have to remember that Wing Chun
works best in crowded places or where physical space is
limited (telephone box scenario).

Arrow walking
should not be thought of as being “active footwork” but
more for ranging in for the first and consecutive
strikes after initial contact has been made.

Therefore Man Sao, Cross reference and Pak Sao entry is an
ideal way of bridging gaps.

With reference to
other forms of Wing Chun.

Some time ago a rift
formed in the Wing Chun world where individual masters
took it upon themselves to modify certain aspects of
the style to conform to what they believed suitable.
Consequently there are now many different schools of Wing Chun
dotted around the world and I have seen various forms
that bear little resemblance to what I had been
taught. This is hardly surprising since Wing Chun is
still a relatively new style.

We, as you know
follow the teachings of the Yip Man school of Kung Fu
and that suits most people. However I feel that Wing
Chun is a concept rather than a style and works best
when adapted to ones own physique and
character.

No time for politics!

Regards,

Steve.
