so what is the deal?
We are a small town we cant afford to waste weekends while having
two races the next! They at least could make them so you could run
both!!!!!
2 RACE??
THE THING THAT GOT ME WAS THAT ONE OF THE RACE SPONSORS SENT SOME OF THEIR
PREMIER RUNNERS OVER TO THE COMPETING RACE. CONSEQUENTIALLY THEY TOOK THE FIRST
PRIZES (CASH). IT SHOWS ME WHERE MY PRIORITIES LAY
AND OF COURSE THEIRS

The fact that there were competing races last weekend in Cherokee
park was not a lack of communication by race directors. Quite the
opposite actually. There is a rift between the two groups that
organized the races. Seems pretty silly to those on the outside.
It is going to happen again next month.
Actually on 12/20 there were 2 on the same day in the
same park and a third over at another park. How
wierd. The biggest problem was in figuring out where
your start was and where your route went. Otherwise,
the other problem was they could have had a lot more
runners at each race if they were different days. If
there were more communication between race organizers
maybe this wouldn't happen. Still, it meant more
chance at age group prizes for us older folks, so I
liked that. LOL.

Hi, I'm looking for a gynecologist in Louisville that is sympathetic
to runners. I had one in Dayton where I used to live that I just
loved until now. I recently went to see her and found out she is an
avid anti-runner. She felt that I had lost too much weight and was
running too much. I run 20 miles a week and am at an ideal weight
according to every study I can find. Any help anyone can give me in
finding a doctor here in Louisville would be greatly appreciated.
One who is a runner himself or herself would be ideal, but I can live
with anyone who won't give me grief and say I should gain weight and
run less to avoid osteoporosis. There are better ways to avoid this
in my opinion than getting overweight and stopping running. If you'd
feel more comfortable emailing me directly rather than the group,
please feel free. Thanks, Margaret
I am also looking for a running partner during those
times -

I am just getting back to running after 2 + months of "injuries". Not
real injuries, just pain that kept me from running. Anyway, I am trying
to find some new motivation to get the progress going. I saw a 5K run
that was associated with a Highlands festival of some sort. I was
unable to get details. Can anyone direct me? I think it was in October
sometime.
Thanks,

I'm interested in doing a 12 mile run (~ 8:00/mile) ... location is
negotiable. If anyone is planning a similar distance/pace run this
saturday (7/19) ... please let me know I'd love to come and run.
I'd like to do these runs as well:
8/9 - 14 miles
8/16 - 16 miles
8/23 - 18 miles
I'm training for a triathlon and the race is 9/20 so after the last
longer run I'll be in taper mode.

Great information ... Thanks!

I recently returned to running after several years of being, well,
just plain lazy. I can barely make 2 miles now. If there are any
newbies or returnies that would like to run with other slow pokes,
drop me an email. I could use the encouragement & support. I've
been running Seneca & Cherokee usually in the evenings and also
biking some days.
Go to the Fleet Feet website and put your name in for
their email newsletter.
http://www.fleetfeetlouisville.com/
That's how I found my current running partner was
through the newsletter. We ran 7 miles together on
Sunday at just under a 13 minute mile. Its hard at
that slow to find partners and so that worked well for
us.
Also, folks run out of Fleet Feet at 8:30am on
Saturday/Sunday (actually they did 7:30am this weekend
and so that may be the new standard) and at Iroquois
on Saturday. There was a group that did 12 miles out
of Fleet Feet this past Sunday morning when we were
there.
Also, you might consider posting your speed and
planned distance here and part of town desired and see
if you get any takers as well.
Btw, if want some speed training, I'd recommend the
Iroquois Road Runner's track intervals at 7pm at
Iroquois HS track on Tuesday nights. There are all
speeds there including really fast and us slow pokes
as well. It's a friendly group. We arrive a little
earlier to warm up and we're doing 2x600, 2x400,
2x300, and 2x200 this week.

I've been training for some triathlons for a while now by myself ...
I have a nice 6, 8 and 10 mile path near my house. I'd love to run
with some people and I'm looking for some longer runs (12 - 18). I'm
sure there are tons of organized runs but I'm not familiar with
any. If anyone could point me to a time/place/distance I'd be most
appreciative.
Our internal newsletter (I work at Anthem) said they
were switching their sponsorship to the 5k to reach a
larger audience. So I would assume someone else with
have pick up the mini/marathon.

I was really sad when I heard about the change in the triple crown.
My personal opinion is that it diminishes the accomplishment of
completing the triple crown. It should be something that takes some
effort to complete. But then, I am not much for change.
Its my understanding that they think they'll attract
more runners to the Triple Crown. Folks still wanting
to do the mini still will, but folks who feel like 13
miles is too far to run will do the new Triple Crown
that might not have done the old Triple Crown and also
that therefore there will be more community
involvement - kids, older folks, etc. that will just
do the 5k. Personally, I'm a little disappointed, but
still plan to run all 4 next year anyway, so at least
in my case, they aren't losing me because of this
decision. Margaret

I am struggling to find something good to say about the revamped
triple crown.
Its my thinking the 5K thing and the City Run will suffer. Wonder if
they will reduce cost in line with the reduced mileage?
Papa Johns is a keeper.
