My name is Joe Pulizzano, I am the Race Director for the upcoming
Great Midwest Relay running event slated for June 10th and 11th of
2005.
Below I have summarized the nature of the event.
The Great Midwest Relay will be the beginning of what is expected to
be the largest relay and fitness exposition event located in the
Heartland of the United States. Great Lakes Sports will be
presenting this summer classic on June 10th and 11th, 2005. The
event will link the scenic southwestern towns and cities of
Wisconsin and Illinois with Chicago's beautiful lakefront.
Utilizing Wisconsin's' and Illinois' scenic bike trails and paths,
the course route heads 170 miles east. Intermixed with small
sections of Madison, Milwaukee and Chicago's urban neighborhoods add
to the course makeup. The key for this event is to get, not only
city and town involvement, but the participating states, Wisconsin
and Illinois, involved also. The interconnecting cities and towns
along the way would serve as transfer/support areas for the
competing teams. In addition, we have partnered with Special
Olympics as our cause group. They also will be participating in the
event as a competing team.
This is a fun event for all club participants. Organize a team or
two and see who can get to Chicago while having the most fun...
