the story of my Derby marathon

Meg,
I certainly understand. But for the $60 ($90 late) entry fee the
runners' path to the finish shouldn't be obstructed. I know an older guy
who was trying to do the marathon at your pace. At the back of the pack
he had a problem due to his lack of speed. Approaching Main from the
Stock Yards area and not thinking clearly after trudging along for nearly
5 hrs, this jogger was not clear as to which way to turn. There was
only a Metro police car at that intersection with a female officer in the
driver seat. Her back was to the oncoming runners and she was chatting
on a cell phone. Jogger couldn't tell which way to go. Went to the
right, when he yelled at the officer, she pointed out her window in the
opposite direction and continued chatting. The KY Derby Festival folks
are a sorry lot, they don't deserve our entry fees.
Nick

You're totally right of course. In the Anthem 5k the walkers were 6-7 abreast and I was trying for a PR and missed it due to them. Slower folks should be out...
