Louis Edward Schneider, 77, of Pittman Center, TN, died Friday, April 2,
2004, at his home. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a
graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he lettered in track and
cross country. He worked many years as an advertising executive. He was a
lifelong running enthusiast and was a participant, coach and race
developer. He founded two businesses in Louisville, Louis Schneider
Advertising and Jogger-Runner-Racer. He had a deep love for the Great
Smoky Mountains and was an avid hiker. He was a member of Gatlinburg (TN)
Presbyterian Church and Gatlinburg Rotary Club. He was past treasurer of
the church's day care center and a past member of the Salvation Army
Advisory Board. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary
Green, and his sister, Virginia Whaley. He is survived by his children,
Ellen and Howard, and their mother, Doris Schneider. He is also survived
by his son-in-law, Steve VanDine; daughter-in-law, Bette Schneider; and
grandchildren, John, Philip, Peter, Elizabeth and Mary. A memorial
service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at Gatlinburg
Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m.
Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that
memorials be made to Gatlinburg Presbyterian Church's Day Care Center.
