Sunday, February 18th, was indeed a black day in
the history of stock car racing. Everyone who was a
fan of NASCAR, whether they liked him or not, knew
the name Earnhardt. He has accomplished so much both
on and off the track that for years to come,
everyone will still remember the legend of Dale
Earnhardt.<br><br>I, myself, am a big Adam Petty fan (as well as a
Dale Earnhardt Jr fan) and know exactly how every fan
of the Intimidator must feel right about now: shock,
disbelief, sadness, anger, and frustration. Why Dale? Why
did this have to happen?<br><br>No one knew before
the race that the interview he did would be his last.
No one knew when the race began that it would end in
such tragedy. No one knew when Dale got in his car
that it would be the last time we would ever see the
number 3 in all its glory. <br><br>It's hard when
another driver is taken from us so<br>abruptly. It's even
more difficult when it was your favorite driver.
Heroe's aren't suppose to die; yet on the final lap of
the Daytona 500 one special one did.<br><br>From
experiencing these same emotions less than a year ago, all I
can tell everyone is that in time the anger and
frustration does subside, but the emptiness and pain will
always be with you. With the help of each other and with
strength from God we can and will get through this, yet
again.<br><br>I believe every fan of NASCAR will hold a special
place in their hearts for a man they called the
Intimidator. He was the enemy to some, the hero to many, and
the legend to all.<br><br>Goodbye Dale. As you can
see from your seat next to your fellow racing
companions in Heaven, you are deeply missed. Thank you for
the great memories, the exciting finishes, the
memorable interviews and the legacy in which fans, friends,
and future drivers of the sport will remember you by.
Indeed, you will live on in each and every one of us whom
you've touched over the years and all will hold a
special place in their hearts for the legendary "man in
black" known as the "Intimidator."<br><br>PS: Please
tell Adam I said hi.<br><br>VickyLynn Allen
