John Bernardin got up there early this morning to ski and reports thin,
but good early-season conditions. With the grooming that Dave Wykoff did
Saturday evening (using the new double tracker he calls "Hulk"), the
trail is compacted and fairly consistent. Yesterday's mostly
wind-producing storm did leave about 2 inches of new snow, with perhaps
more up high.
The new snow hasn't been groomed, but the trail is still skateable. Be
aware of the usual thin spots and the protruding large rocks on the early
sections of the trail. John said that he skied in from point A, but
mostly double-poled until pt. B where conditions begin improving quickly.
Temps were below zero on the trails this morning, and the forecast is
calling for coolish temps all week, so the thin conditions should hold.
A storm is being forecast for Sunday night into next Tuesday.
Bring rock skis and/or be very careful of the thin coverage.
