Quite a crew from L/A. up for the Alley Loop marathon in Crested
Butte last weekend, maybe 9 of us! Crested too, is in the no snow
doldrums, but these things are relative to say the least, and we
raced on old but quite deep (like 3+ feet) snow thoroughly groomed by
a brand new 12' wide Pisten Bulley over spectacular terrain (more
steep herringbones than yrs truly needed) on a beautiful sunny, cool
Sunday--followed by a nice afternoon awards ceremony at the local
brew pub with free snacks and designer beers, believe it or not! Of
the various Rocky Mountain ski marathons that are qualifiers for the
Birkie that I've attended over the years, this is definitely one of
the very best! tom
