Go ski...TODAY! It is incredibly good.
There was even a few more inches of new snow over what we had over the
weekend, so it groomed out very nicely. I'm very grateful that Dave
Wykoff loaned us the Hulk, as the drifts were huge in a couple of spots.
That was definitely "get the snowmachine buried 'til May" drifts out
there last night. Amazingly, there were no trees down.
The entire system was groomed -- the upper woods trails and the lower
road were passed over three times with the Tidd and track was set. The
meadow presented some challenges with the drifts and I had to unhook and
go back and forth a few times with just the trackster. On the second
time up, I was getting stuck at a wall of snow and was barely able to get
turned around and head back to the Tidd and point A. I did drag the Tidd
down the meadow once, with the tracksetter too. Be careful skiing down
it, as it's narrow and bumpy where the drifts were/are. It's mostly very
nice skiing, though. Classic skiing up the meadow trail will be nice
The drifts even hit the trail up high on the woods trail before breaking
out into the meadow. You'll see what I mean.
I skied it this morning and it was all excellent. The lower road groomed
out very nicely and was my favorite. It was snowing at a pretty decent
rate by the time I left.
The "muster area" for the moonlight wine & ski shin-dig looks great. The
guys put out a lot of wood, and I hauled up the split stuff that John B.
left for me in the parking lot. A tarp is over all of it.
Bring headlamps. It should be very skiable that night.
