Pajarito X-C Ski Trail was groomed for Classic and Skating yesterday -
--woods portions of the trail (skiers only) have both classic tracks
and skating lanes, extra blue kick wax conditions: quite nice!
The "multiple use" portions of the trail from the trailhead up thru
the Canada Bonita Meadow have been groomed 6-10' wide for skating,
snowshoeing, hiking, and dog skiing. Sorry that ongoing snowmobile
problems kept us from getting in a classic track there this weekend!
We need a new machine---when you're up skiing, pick up a pre-
addressed envelope and use it to mail in a donation to our new
equipment fund---it costs real money to groom and maintain a trail
like this and if you use it,you ought to think about helping with
it! If you would like to participate more actively in our club (Los
Alamos Nordic) our next meeting is February 25th at 7:00 PM at Mesa
Public Library in Los Alamos.
You can always use yr own envelope and mail in some bucks direct to
LANSC, Treasurer, 218Navajo Drive, Los Alamos NM 87544.
On another note: Dave W, the most tireless groomer in N.NM, has
groomed the Norski Trail above Santa Fe (on the way to the ski area)
for Classic Skiing---this, like the Pajarito Trail, is a no dogs or
walking trail (with USFS approval), so bring your skiis and check it
out--it's 14 miles up Hyde Park Road, about a mile before you get to
the Santa Fe Ski Area.
Dave W is also grooming for the folks that run Valle Grande: this is
a fee area, two trail systems in a spectaclar setting in the Valles
Caldera above Bandelier on Hwy 4 between Los Alamos and Jemez Springs-
--if you love groomed skiing you want to check this out!
