Just a reminder that tonight is the midnight run, starting from Hulda
Crooks Park in Loma Linda. Try and be a little early to find parking
and be ready to run right at midnight. Bring a light or headlamp if you
have one. Not everyone will need a light but the more the better. It
may be partially cloudy. The run will be a 6 mile run. 3 miles out and 3
miles back. We will run out Beaumont to the Railroad tracks and then
run to the right, along the dirt road, paralleling the tracks to San
Timeteo. At San Timiteo we will turn left, crossing over the tracks and
then cross over San Timeteo to a small dirt road that parallels the
tracks from the other side. When we reach 3 miles we will return back
the way we came.

For those who feel like it, we will meet at Denny's afterward just off
of Tippecanoe, North of the 10 frwy.

There are no toilet facilities, as I believe the toilets at the park are
locked at night.

There is parking just above the entrance to the park and also on
Beaumont just a few hundred feet down next to the dog park. One should
also be able to park on one of the close side streets.

Please try not to make a lot of noise especially when we go past
residences along Beaumont. Once on the dirt road noise shouldn't be a
problem, but once we cross San Timeteo there will be another short
section of houses.

Let me know if you have any questions.

See you all there, and if you feel like dressing up in a quirky outfit
don't hesitate!

By CAMERON STRACHER
In the U.S., marathon running is suffering because the media follows its human-interest stories rather than the competition among highly trained athletes.

Fantastic Mr. Fox directed by Wes Anderson, featuring the voices of George Clooney and Meryl Streep. Opens 11/13.

Latest weather report for hike close to summit.  summit is actually about 800 feet higher and probably about 3 degrees cooler.

I have been to this the last two years. Last year  they finished in Pasadena by taking five 3 mile loops around the Rose Bowl. This year, they did the same thing, but the last day was elsewhere. Lance was there this year, but they go by so fast, you don't know who is who. The good thing about the Rose Bowl is you see them more than once, but they came down from Angeles Crest which is all burned out now.

My cycling friends always talked about how cool it would be to have a stage race up to Big Bear during the Redlands Bicycle Classic. Well, looks like the Tour of California folks have made a move in that direction by including a mountain stage finish in Big Bear. Great stuff!! Here's the link to the Press Enterprise, PE.com:
