The Sendai Committee in cooperation with the International Relations Council of Riverside and the City of Riverside is beginning the process of selecting a male and female runner to participate in the 18 th Sendai International Half Marathon to be held in Riverside ’s sister city of Sendai , Japan in 2008. The date has yet to be determined.

The participating runners are expected to have a dual role of athlete/citizen diplomat in representing the City of Riverside at this event. We have select candidates who have an interest in promoting the spirit of international relationships by participation and support of events organized by Riverside ’s International Relations Council and the Sendai Committee. The runners meet minimum time requirements for the half marathon since the Sendai Half Marathon has timed closure of course sections with 3 time checkpoints on the course. Male runner must be able to comfortably finish the half marathon in 1 hour and 35 minutes, female runners in 1 hour and 40 minutes as minimum qualifications.
