Hello everyone.
I will try and broadcast this as widely as possible - it is for eveyone.
This year, Texas is hosting an adult team from the UK, so horses are in
extreme shortage. To accomodate this, and to also try to give the kids who
travel large distances as much polox as possible (and at a minimal cost) we
will hold the trials Wednesday afternoon and Thursday Mar 27 and 28th. I am
sorry to ask kids to take 2 days from school, but it seems to be the only
way we can raise the numbers of average to good horses for the trials. It
will also ease our judging requests on those players who have spent time
preparing to enjoy the only 6man team tournaments of the season. You will be
able to play the Camp Stewart tournament (30 and 31st) in addition to the
trials if you wish.
We propose to hold the trials at Camp Stewart in Hunt,Texas to minimize
travel once there.
Arrival: The easiest plan would be to fly to San Antonio and it is an easy
negotiation to IH10 and about 1hr drive to Kerrville. For those taking 4
days off school and playing in the Lone Star tournament then you'd fly into
Austin - and either hire a car or arrange for someone to collect you.
Austin to Hunt is about 4hrs
I can collect people from San Antonio and run them to Hunt, and I'm sure
there will be some other available vehicles.
Accomodation: There is a local motel, about 3-4mls east of C Stewart in
Ingram township. Hunter House Motor Inn, 830 367 2377...cost abt $50/nite
We can hire 2 cabins (bunk beds, showers etc) and arrange for 1 meal/day to
be provided. I am waiting to hear from Jeepers, so no idea of cost but
would imagine it would be much cheaper than motel accomodation - and you
are on site.
Can you please give us some feedback re accomodation, arrival dates,
tournament days etc.,so we can have some idea of planning required.
I have held sending this for some days in the hope of contacting someone at
Camp Stewart...without success, but I'm sure that between Stewart and
Waldemar we have sufficient flexibility and backup to house everyone if
neccessary.
I will endeavour to get some forecast plans from Australia this week.
Thanks for your patience.
Liz
