CALLING ALL WOMEN ULTIMATE PLAYERS IN LONDON!
Several of us ABH ladies, in combination with women from other London teams,
have decided its high time to form a new London based women's team (name to
follow!)
We are looking to hear from any women who are based in London and interested in
playing with a competitive and fun women's team for Tour this season. A key
thing we would like to incorporate in this team is the ability to impose a level
of intensity (while enjoying ourselves) into REGULAR women's practices.
Please note: we are not requesting that you join ABH for mixed tour, this is
purely a women's thing!
If you are interested in hearing more, please get in touch:

Hi Folks,
Sorry for the Spam posting but I know a lot of ultimate players in London
are teachers. Would anyone out there like to earn £50 for about an hours
work evaluating a website for me on Thursday or Friday this week? (we can do
after school times). If so, or if you know someone who you think would be
interested then please email me.
Cheers,
Dave Grayson.

Hi,
From this Sunday ABH practices will be closed. We are still accepting
new players though. All are still welcome to pick up. Pick up starts at
2.30 or thereabouts every Sunday. Any questions please mail me,
Cheers,
Ant - ABH President
Hey SE,
Unfortunately I've experienced a team drop out for this saturday's
ladder league in Hyde Park. We've got 5 other teams raring to go. I'm
trying to put together a Curve-Revolution team, but they might be short
of players. Is there anyone who could put a last minute team into this?
Even if it's half a team, I can try and mix it up.

Hey SE,
ABH Open is hosting a ladder league event for both club teams and
university first teams on Saturday 19th January in Hyde Park. This is
part of our ongoing preparations for the Open Tour in March.
So far ABH A, discDoctors 1 and Thrown 1 are attending and we are
looking for another 3-5 teams to play. Games would start around 9h30 on
saturday and everyone should get four 1-hour long games.
Please note that this is an Open event.
If interested, please email me back at madk.ultimate@...
See a lot at LWL3 I imagine,

Hey LondonLeague,
ABH mixed A&B are trying to see if any other mixed teams would be
interested in taking part in a 3-game mini tourney on Hyde Park this
sunday to replace LWL3.
We're looking for another 4 teams or so. If it goes ahead I'll have
everything sorted by tomorrow noon.
Please mail me at madk.ultimate@... or call me on 07771 871 549

Hi
I've just spoken to the groundsman who had just returned from a brief swim
across the fields.
LWL3 is definitely cancelled. Sorry.
More details will follow about refunds, LWL4, etc.
Si
Please pass on the message to your team mates - nobody's going to be there
on Sunday morning to explain to people who show up...
[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Hi
Someone emailed to ask if LWL3 was cancelled. The answer is NOT YET.
However - with all the rain in the last few days we have again lost a number
of pitches - and the forecast suggests cancellation is a possibility. The
feedback we got in December was that teams would rather hang on for a late
decision than make an early call to cancel - so we are sticking with this
principle.
I will send another update later today.

LWL3 is on Sun 13 Jan. Thats quite soon.
Looking at the entry list I'm guessing that a few people are still working
out numbers - or maybe just waiting for confirmation.
Anyway - it is going ahead - and all the details about entry and payment are
the same as ever. Please email Gaz or I about entry - including any
questions that you have.
If your team doesn't seem to be on the list below and you are intending to
come then please let me know asap. Further emails regarding LWL3 will be
sent to the lwl-contacts e-group rather than everyone on londonultimate.
See you there!

Hi all,
The Cutty Sharks are short of one female player for Winter League 3 on 13th
January. Would you like to play with us? We're in the 3rd division and
getting better every time!
Thanks,

Hi London Ultimate,
My name is Russ and I am in London for an internship in Jan. I've got a
room in North Acton and was wondering if there were any players in the
area who meet up to throw or do fitness work? I'm playing for EMO at
tour so I'm egar to stay in shape/ get throwing.
Thanks
Russ
Hi,
I couldn't find my London Summer League disc at the end of LWL2
yesterday. I was playing on the pitches on the other side of the
bridge in the mixed league. If anyone picked it up, please can they
let me know? Once you wipe away all of the mud, it should have 'Wendy
Paf' writen very faintly in purple on the back of it.
Thanks,
Wendy
Winter League is ON tomorrow despite the rain today.
The forecast for tomorrow is not good so bring your waterproofs!
We have max eight pitches so we will be using the schedule that was posted
yesterday:
http://www.ukultimate.com/system/files/2007-8+Schedule+-+Matchday+2.pdf
Check it out because some teams have relatively late start (or early finish)
See you there

Yes - well quite sensibly I can't send an attachment, and can't upload files
to this yahoo group.
But I can put files here:

So that's where you'll find it!

Sorry for sending quite so many emails.

OK - so the weather has caused me a few headaches this week - and we've lost
some pitches.!
We've had to cut things back a bit - sorry. When I went to there today 10
pitches were definitely good enough to play, but with more rain expected
tomorrow its quite possible that one or two of those pitches will become
unusable too.
The attached schedule - which I'll also upload to the yahoo group files area
- the fourth draft :-) - has three games for every team as opposed to the
usual four. This means we can get a decent day of ultimate in on eight
pitches - and there is a reasonable chance that eight pitches will be OK.
It is set up so that most teams are not required to be there for the whole
day - so it's a late start or an early finish.
PLEASE NOTE: if it pours with rain for much of Saturday then the venue may
yet decide they have to cancel the whole thing. That decision will be made
around 6pm tomorrow evening.
In the event of cancellation I will obviously try to get the message out as
widely as possible as quickly as possible - but it will need people within
teams to contact each other. And I will still travel down to the venue on
Sunday morning to explain to anyone that turns up.
Cheers

:-(
Still delayed. We have at least two different schedules ready to go...
But we don't know which one will be best until I've had a visit to the
pitches early this afternoon.
At that point we will know how many pitches we've got.
As soon as I can I will
1. send the schedule out to the -contacts e-group and the general
londonleague group
2. put the schedule on the yahoo-group
I don't have access to the website and Gaz is away. Hopefully Paul will
have time to put the schedule up there too - but if not you'll have to help
get it around.
If you don't have access to the internet during the weekend then I think you
will need to assume you are playing at 9:30 - but I recommend you call
someone that can check the internet!
Apologies again!

Hi
Confirmed entries for LWL2 are shown below. If you think you should be on
this list and are NOT, then please get in touch asap.
Otherwise - its really too late to enter now - although I suppose you might
talk me into it if you are really quick.
Other info:
1. Expecting to complete and publish schedule tonight.
2. Its raining. When I spoke to the groundsman on Monday he was confident
that most pitches would be OK - so everything should be fine. However - if
it does have to be cancelled due to waterlogged fields we expect to know by
Saturday and will obviously get the word out as quickly as we can.
3. Special bonus feature of LWL2 is that Ultimatum 2007 is out and I am
bringing boxes of them for UKUA members that have South-East addresses (that
suggest they might be at LWL2). I'll probably have them in the tea room
although I might just do it from the back of the car!
4. We have bought more cups to serve tea and coffee as per last month. But
- if you have your own sturdy cup - why not bring it along instead? It
means we're less likely to run out AND its better for the environment I
imagine.
See you Sunday

Hi all
OK - I've been working through all the emails I've received for entry to
LWL2 THIS SUNDAY. I want to confirm that I've got everyone as Gaz is away
and it seems likely/possible that we will be missing one or two teams if
they tried to contact him. And I guess its always possible I've missed
someone who really has sent me an email!
MIXED DIVISION FIRST:
We have 14 teams as listed below. This is a lot less than LWL1 - so I can't
help thinking there are more people that are intending to come!
*MIXED*:
Galahs 1
Galahs 2
Ovathrow
Thundering Herd 1
Thundering Herd 2
ABH 1
Fugazees
RUF
PAF
Kent Touch This
Cutty Sharks
Choke Hazard (was "Bye")
ABH 2
Strange Blue
*I would be really grateful if someone from the following teams could drop
me a quick email confirming that they do NOT intend to enter LWL2 please.
Or - of course - if you are planning to play - then get in touch ASAP!
*Curve
UCL
Thrown
Revolution
OW!
BUF (oxford brookes)
Galahs 3
Several clubs have entered OPEN without entering MIXED so I'm assuming this
to be confirmation that they are NOT entering mixed (e.g. Brighton,
Discuits).
*OPEN
*
We have the following 13 teams - again I'm wondering if we still have a few
teams planning to come that aren't on my list.
Confirmed entered:
Brighton
Discy Business
Ltd Release
LSE Equilibrium
Disc Doctors Joe Palmer
Lucky Huckers
Fever
6FFU
GB Mixed
Fire
Discuits
Strange Blue
UCL
*Again - I'd be grateful if someone from the following teams could confirm
that they are not intending to enter LWL2.*
Kent Open
London Revolution 1
OW!
BUF
Hope that all makes sense. I'll be creating receipts, etc next.

Hi all,
Unfortunately the Cutty Sharks are injury abound after playing at the Great
Barr Crawl in Birmingham this weekend. We're now especially short of women
for Winter Leauge, and could probably do with picking up a boy or two too.
As a newish team we're in the third division of the mixed league, but
learning fast and hoping to get some more wins under our belt this time
round.
Please get in touch if you're short of a team and want to play,
Thanks,
Emma

We (Fever) have tried to enter WL2, and have emailed Si Hill and sent the
money to Wayne Retter, but have not heard if we have a spot.
I realise that you're all probably really busy and some of you are off to
Brazil this week but if someone could let us know if we're in then I'd be very
grateful.
Thanks

Hey fab ulti players of London
I have a Swiss friend and ultimate player who's coming to London from 7-10
December and needs a place to stay for those nights. I'm leaving to World
Beach champs the day before he arrives so sadly can't put him up.
He's a super lovely guy, relaxed and independent and would appreciate
anyone's hospitality. Is there anyone out there who can help him out?
Email me and let me know!

Dear all,
The Cutty Sharks need another couple of women for Winter League 2. If
you're short of a team, and female, get in touch!! You don't have to have
much/any experience to play with us - we're a friendly new team that's
looking to increase our numbers (whether that be just for Winter League, or
for the mixed season next year...).
Cheers,
Emma

If anyone out there is interested in playing a day of indoor on the
1st Dec in Finsbury Park, Greenwich-based team The Cutty Sharks are
looking to enter a team. We're currently a few players short, so let
me know if you're interested.
Cheers,

Subject: [WFDFMemberLink] New Guts Players Encouraged to Participate in WUGC2008
A number of top guts players from
Asia and the United States are
working hard to help grow the sport of guts, and are using the 2008
World Championships in Vancouver as a way to showcase this.
These top athletes will take time to help coach/teach both open and
womens teams during the event in August, and will also try and supply
resources (discs/videos) leading up to WUGC2008.
There is a good cross over of skills that an ultimate player can
bring to the guts game, and representatives from the US Guts Players
Association have been a strong voice in encouraging those countries
sending ultimate teams to Vancouver, to also compile a team of
players who did not qualilfy for ultimate, and have them participate
in guts. By selecting an additional 14 men and women, that country
could fill their allotted 2 teams for guts.
Sending additional players from your country will expose more
participants to international competition, who may come back from
Vancouver inspired to help further develop disc sports in your
country.
Please forward this information to those responsible for National
Team selection within your federation.
