Hi
In the last few days I've been approached about a Festival of Sport that is
going on in Wimbledon Park this weekend. A group of ultimate players that
sometimes play there were approached to be involved, and they are running a
small tournament on Sunday 28th Sept - between 10am and 4pm. I think the
intention is to provide something of a mixture between some real games and a
have-a-go session for complete newcomers that are interested.
The festival is all about getting increasing local activity levels in sport
- and that includes ultimate! I have attached a poster being used to
advertise the event. Not sure if this will get through the yahoo-list. If
not - I'll upload it to the yahoo site.
There are two ways to be involved:
1. You can enter a team into the tournament. Its going to be 7-a-side and
"open" - i.e. expecting/hoping for mixed teams (but no strict mixed-ratio
rules); they have two fields. Due to the nature of the event they are going
to allow teams to sign up on the day, so the exact format/schedule will be
very simple, and put together on the fly I guess. To enter a team please
email: mertonfrisbee@.... I'm sure you can enter a part-team if you
like.
2. The group running the ultimate part are - in their words - a "social
group" who enjoy the ultimate, but don't have much experience of playing
outside their weekly club session. They would welcome assistance from more
experienced ultimate players in terms of educating and possibly instructing
anyone from the general public that comes along, gets involved, etc. If you
think you can help, please either email me and I'll pass on contact details
to the contact I have; or I guess emailing mertonfrisbee@... will also
work too.
Obviously if you have any more questions, give me a shout.
Si
