I must say I can't quite understand the rationale behind the 5,6,11,12 &
7,8,9,10 crossover groups..... 5,8,9,12 & 6,7,10,11 or 5,7,10,12 & 6,8,9,11
would have been a far more conventional matchings.



If 11 and 12 are underseeded 5 & 6 become very vulnerable in the chosen
setup, whereas 7 & 8 are vulnerable in the conventional route (which is why
it is more conventional).



I know it's only summer league but we should use collective learning on
competitive structures.......

Given that only 15 of you seemed to have signed up, this means a lot of
people are going to be missing important news. But hey it's either that or
spam london league 4 times a week. SIGN UP PLEASE!

Ok, Clissold park has been checked by the good people of the north and by
all accounts it is fine. I went to Balham today and there is good news and
bad. The good news is the grass has been cut and the pitches are looking
great. The bad news is the grass cuttings have covered the lines. You
couldn't make it up.

So if both teams could just kick the grass off the lines as part of their
warm up, then we should be good. Cannot see any brick marks either but hey
right now I'll take that.

Can both captains ALWAYS check the pitch before they play and if there is
anything you feel is dangerous then please contact me or find an alternative
place to play. We will not pay if anything horrific has happened to the
pitch. I cannot check both pitches each week so I need your help. Let me
know please and I will sort.

Payment details will go out tomorrow I hope or at least by the end of the
week. It looks like there will be no finals day as it has failed to take off
the last year or so and it is a "league" after all. Maybe we could also do a
knock out cup next year as well with a bit more organisation. (Hmmm.....).

earlier you call, the more likely you are to get a sensible response. After
ten you have no hope. Expect slurred abuse.

Please look after the pitches, be respectful to the public, clear up after
yourselves and leave the pitches as you found them. Remember spirit of the
game and the reason we all play summer league. Last year I heard some rather
disappointing stories of individuals and teams displaying less than amicable
traits. Summer league is where a lot of new players get involved and let's
show them the best that ultimate has to offer. Oh and with regards booze,
Wandsworth were hot last year on this not taking place. I don't want to
remove the sociable aspect of summer league but walking round with crates
and throwing cans at the public will see you banned! Use your brains please
and do not be the team that gets summer league in trouble. Those nalgene
bottles have never been more necessary.
