Matchday Three finally saw the weather we've come to know and love from the
British Winter - well, some of us anyway :-(

30 teams again braved the wind and rain (and early morning alarm calls) and
London Winter League looks set to break the attendance records set last
year. And to think it was only four years ago that LWL started with just 8
teams playing once a month!

Whilst Fire are enjoying a healthy 120 point at the top of the Open
rankings, it looks as though the inaugural Mixed Division is going to go
down to the wire.

Electric Mayhem's 7-5 victory over Ltd Release 1 in the final leaves the two
teams level on points going into Matchday 4. With those two sharing the
three matchdays so far between them it looks like February will be winner
takes all! The Thundering Herd look good for third though.

The Flaming Galahs continued their rise up the rankings by making their
first semi-final and, whilst they struggled against Mayhem, a narrow 5-8
lose against the Herd for 3rd spot gives them much to build on next time
around. Ltd Release 2 showed the South Coast unit's strength in depth by
taking 5th.

In the Open Div 1 Fire survived a fight back from Clapham, surrounding a 4-0
lead to eventually win in sudden death. Baring an act of God (Roger?) Fire
will take the Open title, leaving Clapham and Discuits to fight for 2nd.
Fever slumped from 5th to 9th with four straight loses, with UCL1 heading in
the other direction. ABH ran hard all day and will be pleased to have
avoided the drop back into Div2.

Speaking of Div2, after a couple of close misses Strange Blue finally won
promotion to Div1 with a 6-4 victory over newcomers Ltd Release. Div2 was
all about close games on Sunday: in the first round pools BrunelUltimate2
beat DiscDoctors 9-8, DiscDoctors then beat Thrown 8-7, and Thrown beat
Brunel 8-6, leaving a nice 3-way tie to sort out! DiscDoctors took it on
points scored and then lost to Curve in another nail-biter (8-7) for 3rd.
Thrown couldn't cope with the ever-improving junior team 6ffu and Haze beat
Brunel in a battle of the student teams.

Three down, one to go! See you all at Winter League 4 on Sunday 12 February.
Enter now to avoid disappointment!
