WAIT A MINUTE!

In FED you cannot be within about 5 feet of the rubber. In NCAA you
can't be on the dirt.

As this was a seniors game, the ump probably was a FED person. Wrong,
but a FED person.

The rule says on or astride of the pitchers plate. In pros..you can't touch your mouth on the dirt...possibly that is what they were trying to say....Yoda ...
