Sheri has an excellent entry in the latest VeloNews contest:
http://www.velonews.com/news/fea/11245.0.html

The gallery is at:
http://velonews.com/galleries/contest51/index.html

The winner is announced Monday. This is the last chance to send in
feedback about which entry you like the most. Feedback goes to:
Rosters@...

Dan

P.S. There was a flawed Evite link on the lowkey web site (and in some
of the many announcement emails....). The link on the website has been
fixed:

Here's a tough one... check out the final climb on stage 19 of the
just-announced Giro route:
http://giroditalia2007.gazzetta.it/it/materiale/19_list_altimetrie_details/altim\
etrie_detail9.php

The total climb is 1200 meters, of which 900 is close to a 15% average. This is
basically Mt
Diablo at Bohlman-On Orbit type grades (the steep part, not including the upper
portion..) Ouch.

One for Low-Key Europe?

Well, there is no announced second place in the VeloNews photo contest, but
Sheri had to be up
there in the final consideration. For once they decided to go with a shot in
which the action
captured, rather than the technical aspects of the photo, appears to have been
the deciding
factor:
http://www.velonews.com/news/fea/11274.0.html

Sheri's entry, which I don't get tired of viewing, no matter how many times I do
so:
http://velonews.com/galleries/contest51/image15.html

At least the winner was local, as it was a shot of the Golden Gate Cyclocross
which took it...

Low-Key Hillclimbers:

A DVD is available which has ALL the race video's you can see on the website in a high quality DVD format, which can be viewed on standard DVD players.  This disk contains Hwy 9,  the Page Mill Road Time Trial, and the last race of the season, Mt. Hamilton.

Kevin or Dan will be sending information on how to make payment ($5 per disk).  All $$ you send for the DVD is going to low-key.  Please feel free to purchase as many as you need.

I can't think of a better Christmas gift to send to family and friends.  If your neighbors wonder why you are on your bike all the time, they make great gifts for them too !!  Get one for your boss and maybe he/she will have a better appreciation and understanding of your "situation".

Starting 12/07,  DVD's can be picked up at The Bicycle Outfitters in Los Altos (963 Fremont Avenue, Los Altos, CA 94024) during their business hours at the front desk.  Just mention "low-key DVD" or something close to that.

PLEASE DO NOT give Bicycle Outfitters money for the DVD.  Please pay before picking it up.  You may feel free to purchase a new bike or buy other things while you are in the store !!  Next years series is coming up quick !!

Hopefully, soon I will have more stores in different areas available too to make it closer to more people.

If picking up at Bicycle Outfitters will be difficult, please send an email to:
lowkeyhillclimbdvd@..., and we will make arrangements to get a copy to you.

The 100% club get a FREE DVD !!

After so many TDF re-runs, they were pretty anxious to get some new cycling material and right away started playing it in their showroom.  Don't be surprised if you go in and are a big celebrity !!

If you run into any problems getting the disk at Bicycle Outfitters, please let me know right away.

If you are unable to make it to Bicycle Outfitters, let me know and I will ensure you get a copy.

<<<<Sounds like our kind of ride but this is a NOT an LKHC event>>>

The inaugural San Jose CEO/Amateur Sierra King of the Mountain Ride will take place on Saturday, February 17 at 10 AM starting and finishing at San Jose City Hall.

Cyclists will have the opportunity to preview Stage 3 of the Tour de California (http://www.amgentourofcalifornia.com/ ) and can compare their time up grueling Sierra Road with that of the pros.

Kicking off with a celebratory breakfast, the ride is open to amateur cyclists of all abilities.  While this is a ride, not a race, participants can have their climb to the top of Sierra Road individually and/or officially timed.

The best male and female times will receive King and Queen of the Mountain honors alongside professional cyclists during the Amgen Tour of California post-Stage 3 awards ceremony.

Timing chips!

Reminder: Low-Key will revisit Sierra in the fall. I rode the hill a
few weeks ago, and it's in excellent condition. However, even though I
passed it later in the ride, I opted out of Welch Creek.... another day.

Dan

It's Official:
Webcor is sponsoring the February 17th San Jose King
of the Mtn Ride to precede the Tour of CA. The ride
will start from San Jose City Hall and be motor
escorted to the base of Sierra. Riders will be
equipped with timing chips to be activated upon
crossing a timing pad at the bottom, and again at the
top.

It is important that the club turns out in force.
Webcor will be very happy if a Webcor/Alto Velo rider
crosses the line first!

The following review has been approved for all audiences. Rated PG-13
for strong legs and spandex-covered non-nudity. Due to some violent
efforts, parental discretion advised.

Beat the Clock launches the youBest event(TM) on February 3-4, 2007!!

It is the logical synthesis of two of the most ubiquitous training
efforts of successful cyclists. In one sleek weekend, the BtC youBest
event(TM) is guaranteed to improve the core strength and stamina of
all registered iBodies. The youBest weekend was announced last week by
BtC CEO Patt Baenen-Tapscott who unveiled the widely anticipated
youBest information brochure containing the details of this
spectacular event:
http://www.scaledup.com/beattheclock/media/do_your_best.pdf

The youBest event(TM) will combine core strength and pilates exercises
with spinning and cycling sessions into some sweat-packed 24 hours
that will "reinvent" the notion of training. Certified coaches,
licensed personal trainers, and spinning instructors are collaborating
with BtC to produce this innovative event.

"Every once in a while a revolutionary event comes along that changes
everything," says BtC PR director Carola Berger. "It's very fortunate
if you can work on just one of these in your career. The launch of the
BtC youTT series on Canada changed everything a couple years ago. And
we're going to do it again with the youBest event(TM) in 2007." "The
cycling classes are like a spin class, but you actually bring your own
bike! Now that's great! It's a chance to 'Do Your Best'!", adds BtC
CEO Patt-Baenen Tapscott.

Key features include nutritious, natural food and refreshments for the
participating iBodies throughout the day with a special surprise for
late night participants. Furthermore, all registered iBodies are
automatically entered to win prizes in a fabulous iRaffle. A one-hour
session will be available for $20, a mega-version for $60 (4 sessions
- buy 3 get one free). The supersized youBest version without fries
(though BtC cannot guarantee that participating iBodies will not feel
fried) will cost $120 and will include 9 sessions. Sessions for all
shapes, sizes, and fitness levels of iBodies are available.

More information on the youBest event(TM) can be found at
http://www.scaledup.com/beattheclock/media/do_your_best.pdf
The youBest sessions can be purchased at
http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=4140 (*)
Of course, the youTimeTrial series is still available as well, with
the first event on February 17th! Entries for iBodies can be purchased
at http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=4151

----------------
(*) It is always important to consult your physician, coach or
personal trainer before starting an exercise program. Participating in
the youBest event(TM) can impair your ability to sandbag and come in
dead last at bicycle races. The youBest event(TM) may cause race wins
and result in upgrade points as well as increased levels of fitness.
BtC cannot be held responsible for the items won in the iRaffle that
include Voler gift certificates, Power Systems core balance equipment,
private swim lessons at Alpine Tennis and Swim Club.

Two days left to register for the Webcor KOM this Sun. This is a
fundraiser, and priced as such, but if you view the cause as worthy, the
event should be a lot of fun, and the forecast is currently for sun with
T up to 70F (possible rain Sunday, but the pros can deal with that...).

Dan, it's this Saturday.

And may I remind you all that for those who want to try themselves on
the flats for a change, we have another fundraiser going on on
Saturday as well (yes, unfortunate timing).

The Beat the Clock and Help Beat Cancer Canada Time Trial series kicks
off THIS Saturday!!

Preregistration only! Registration ends on Thursday!!!!!!!!!!

http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=4151

If you can't come this time due to other committments, you are invited
to the next event, on March 17th!

Carola

Whoops!!!! I have Sunday on my mind.

Sunday folks should see how the big boys climb, by coming up to San
Francisco to watch the Tour of California Prologue, which goes up
Telegraph Hill:

Of course, on Sat, the Beat the Clock time trial is also highly
recommended. These are a lot of fun. And with a bright and early
7:30am start time, there's plenty of time to ride the time trial and
still make it to San Jose in time for the 10am Webcor/Sierra Rd KOM start.

Attention, Ladies and Gentlemen!

Drumroll please...
Beat the Clock proudly presents...

ummm, ehhh...
God save the queen! (no, wrong announcement)
The king is dead, long live the king! (that's not it either...)
Ship ahoi! (nope, what was I going to say?)
Are you ready to ruuuummmble? (getting closer here...)

Awwwww, sorry, way too distracted these days. Ah, got it!

The first 2007 Beat the Clock Time Trial is THIS Saturday!
Preregistration only -- ends on Thursday!!!
Reserve your spot now:

Yes, we know, unfortunately it's on the same day as the Webcor KOM
event. But if you're insane enough, we can accomodate your start time
and you can probably do both. Just pop us an email when you register.

And as always, we can use all the volunteers we can get!

Thank you,

Carola
