There's a very vocal local resistance to "events" on OLH. What we do is 100% legal (we violate no traffic laws; this is very different than, for example, a road race with controlled intersections and lane closures), but nevertheless, it's best to spread our activities around.
WRT the possible change on Metcalf: Kevin lived in San Jose, while I, Pete, and Patt are all further north. The final 4 climbs were all to the south, so we wanted to move at least one further north, which is easier for us to deal with, and to broaden the geographical region from which we can draw volunteers and coordinators.
Sierra Road has a tie to the TOC. Hamilton/Thanksgiving is quite popular. Welch Creek is a climb which promises to be a real challenge. Metcalf seems the lest bad choice for this year.

Another reason I believe B-O-B is much harder than Welch Creek is the fact that they have conveniently placed this lovely graveyard at the base of the climb of...

... Nothing is final yet. We want to make sure there are no issues with doing a climb there. For example, there's a 15 mph speed limit on the path, as well...
Dan, The "Dirt Alpine" fire road is not much of a road below the slide. I ride this a few times a year on my road bike, which is really challenging. I have ...

Hi Murph, thanks for your concern. I am OK, albeit thrashed thanks to Karen's hill interval session at lunchtime today. Sunday I rode home after the A-Ride and...

What would be the route down? There is a cool loop you can put together if you ride on Skyline and drop down to Alpine through Coal Creek Preserve. Maybe even...
