RE: ***[Possible UCE]*** [lkhc] 2007 Low Key Schedule posted

Say it’s not so! Please keep Metcalf in the schedule. I marked it on my calendar with a big star.  Maybe it’s too short?  It is short, but it’s definitely not easy.  Hey, this is a killer climb that is short enough to stand and hammer the whole way!  Fifteen minutes of 90% heart rate for an average LKHC rider (I consider myself average since I had a perfect score of 100 in the one LKHC I did last season).

Since it is so short, and for a good post-race cool-down ride, continue down the backside of Metcalf, left on San Felipe, left on Farnsworth, left on Silvercreek, left on Hellyer, right on Silicone Valley Dr. and cross the river to the bike path, take the bikepath south to return to Metcalf.  Including the Metcalf climb, the loop is 18 miles with 1970 feet of climbing.  This is a great chance for some of the north county people to experience one of the south county’s classic lunch-time loops and the only chance for the south county people to compete on home turf.

We're contemplating replacing this with a mountain bike ride up Windy Hill.

Also, we're about ready to start looking for coordinators. Current coordinators:

Montebello: Me
Kings Mt: me
Bohlman: Pete Heller
Diablo: volunteer needed!
This starts at South Gate Road, Athenian School.
San Gregorio: Patt Baenen
Welch Creek: Off Calaveras. This is a lightly trafficked out-and-back, relatively easy to coordinate, extremely hard to ride! Volunteer needed.
Windy Hill (possible): coordinator unspecified, as yet.
Sierra Road: coordinator needed
Mt Hamilton: coordinator needed

Coordinators basically run the show for that week: bring snacks for the summit, collect entry fees, mail check for total - expenses to Treasurer Pete (if he's not there), and tabulate results. It works out to a few hours work + time @ the climb, and gives you free entries for the entire series.

Interested? Send me email.

Dan

And thus we can get a reasonable sized poll to assess the answer to which is harder - B-O-B or Welch Creek......
