Well done Lucy for volunteering. Anyone else willing to have a go. It is hopefully going to be a course which relates more specifically to rowing and watersports I believe. It would also be useful to know who has first aid qualifications anyway and what they are.
Please reply to Roger.

Thanks

Anne

Dear Both,

I put out a notice on the notice board requesting folk contact me re doing a club one day  first aid course. The response has been Lucy Garrett. Also, I have persuaded some of the vets and junior parents, but it would be prudent for some of the squad members to have the qualification. Can you try to obtain some nominations from them if possible. The date and funding is yet to be arranged, but I can’t do one without the other. Please help, thanks.

Roger.

Hello ladies!

I hope you've all had a lovely Christmas. I have eaten my bodyweight
in chocolate, so you guys will have to be pulling a bit harder to
shift the boat when we're back to training, hehe!

As for Sunday, thanks for all the replies. Not too late if you
haven't given me a shout and still want to join us, just let me know
ASAP. I can offer B&B if you're coming from further afield and fancy
a drink (but let me know so the maid can prepare the guest wing and
the cook gets extra provisions in for the morning).

Thanks for the offers to bring stuff. I will be putting on:
Mulled & non-mulled wine
Cheese selection & biscuits
breadsticks/veg with dips
'nibbles'
pizza slices
sausages

If you wish to bring something along, let me know so you don't all
turn up with the same things!
I will have some soft drinks (juice, Appletiser, ginger beer probably)
so please bring anything else you fancy (or any alcoholic stuff if you
don't want wine).

See you on Sunday!

Liz

I have amended the database slightly as Ray has said that there is now no formal rowing/training until Monday 5th January.
However I thought it would be useful to leave the dates up so people can fill them in and see if there is anyone else available to row with. I will leave it up to you to either communicate via the noticeboard or wahtever to arrange outings.
Don't forget the Plum Pudding races on Saturday.
The first race we are looking at attending is the Weybridge winter head on Sunday 18th January. I know some of you said you were not around so please fill in the database for that date asap (even if you can't go)so we can see whether we have enough to put in an 8.
On a last point, Ray was chasing me for training info and ergo scores. I should have 2 ergo scores now from everyone. If you have not given them to me (and you know who you are!) then you have until the end of next week to give them to me. Ray has said he will then publish them and we will also presumably have to do another one failrly soon. (Sorry to nag but if I don't have them there will be a nil return enteres against your name apparently!)
After Christmas there is not much training time until the Women's 8's head so try and keep fit over Christmas.

Have a very Happy Christmas and if I don't see you at Liz B's on Sunday or plum pudding races on Sat, a Happy New Year.

Ladies,
If you make a change to the database after mid afternoon on Thursday could you please send me an e-mail or text. I usually send Ray the details of who is available to row on Thursday evening and this week I did so and then have just looked at it and 2 of you who said you were available have now changed it.
Thanks

Hello Anne,

Receiving the first message about giving details about our training, I've had assumed that he needs this information for the girls rowing in the 8.
Am I right ?
Or as he is the senior coach, doe he wants information about all the seniors ?

Regards
Sophie

Ray has asked me to give him the latest 2K ergo times and details of training you have been doing. Thanks to those who have replied. However there are some rather large gaps in the spreadsheet! . Please don't be shy, if you are no doing as much as you should be for various reasons then say so. There is still time to build it up!! I will annotae the sheet accordingly.
IT IS BETER TO HAVE SOMETHING IN THAN NOTHING AT ALL.

Please also fill in the database. Ray is talking about givng us a Christmas break very soon but I think could still be persuaded to come down if enough of still want to go out!

Thanks

Dear All,
It is hugely frustrating but we have had to cancel todays event as the river is unrowable. May I take this opportunity to thank all the members of the organising committee for their hard work which has yet again been scuppered by the weather.

Anne,

Rowing Monday and Friday morning, to the Malta and race back to the KM Millennium Bridge x1 and from Kings boathouse to the club x1, not racing but making sure I get back before the guys. If unable to scull take out Yellow Peril or ergo. Tuesday ergo and weights, Wednesday circuits, Thursday 40 min ergo. Weekends what ever.

Sorry not to have done 2k test, but I lose heart as there is no one of comparable age or stature with whom I can compare.

Sue.

Dear All,

I have mended the steering foot in Morpheus. The shoe was coming unattached and the heads of the screws were stooping the rotation of the steering plate. I have tightened them up and put some grease between too!!!

As people seem to be training at locations other than the club it is difficult to know what everyone is doing. Ray has therefore asked me to ask you all to e-mail me details of what you are doing each week during the week regarding training. eg ergs, weights, runs, circuits etc.

Thanks

Hello,

If anyone can stand the thought of partying again after Friday, I'm having a
party, that I
kind of forgot to organise due to too much making of medals and nonsensical
seating
plans, for my 30th birthday on Saturday 6th December. You are all very welcome
to come
(and bring anyone else along)! We have lots of left over wedding alcohol to use
up...

The party will be in a school building we've borrowed called Bob Doubles (The
Old Bursary)
which is on the Precinct in Rochester, from 7pm. It's a little cafe with space
for a spot of
dancing. To get there from the high street, turn up towards the cathedral and
castle on
the road between Topes restaurant and The King's Head. Go past the castle and
cathedral
and follow the road round to the left on to St. Margaret's Street. Just before
a zebra
crossing and the Coopers Inn there is a turn on the left into a brick road ( not
yellow I'm
afraid). After the first building on the left, turn left and you should be
facing an ancient
gatehouse. The entrance to Bob Doubles is on the left , through a big black
gate, just
before the gatehouse, and up some stairs at the side of the building.

We have floor space if anyone can't get back home after coming over the hill.

Hope to see some of you there,

Jo and Guy

Dear all
It’s the Maidstone Small Boats head on the 13th Dec, and entries close mid day on the 6th Dec.  3 Divisions:  9:30, 11:30 & 1:30.
As usual, boats will be allocated on a first come first served basis, and at the moment (according to an email I saw the other day) senior members are only allowed to race once!
Please could all squad co-ordinators/coaches start to finalise their crews so I can put together the entry by the early part of next week.

Dear All,
As it is the club dinner on Friday evening, there will not be any rowing on Saturday morning.

Ray has asked for everyone to do another 2K ergo by the end of the month. Again please e-mail them to me and I will add them to my spreadsheet and pass it on to him. (Still a few blanks for October!!!!)

The Maidstone Small Boats Head is on Sunday 14th December. Ray is looking to select crews but we need to know availability for everyone. Please fill it in on the database. If you say you are available for that day you will be expected to help in the divisions in which you are not rowing. There are 3 divisions and help is required from about 8.30 (or earlier) until 3 ish. Again as last year, adult  members will only be permitted to row in one division and as already mentioned will be required to help in the other 2.

Thanks

Dear All,

Because of School half term, circuits will not take place on the 29th
October.

Ray has suggested that we should do a run round Mote Park instead.

I won't be there myself and suggest you liaise with each other perhaps
meet at the leisure centre at 7ish.

Circuits of course will be back on bonfire night 5th November.

Firstly apologies to those who were expecting me to be down tonight
and wanted to do max weights. For those who were not at circuits last
night, I fell and hurt my knee. It is a bit swollen and sore today so
I have been hobbling about and completely forgot I had said I would
be down.SOOOOOO SOOOORRRRRRYYYYYY.

Secondly, At the weekend Ray will be down, I have given him lists of
those who will be there (I will not). Hope all goes well.

Thirdly, Ray has asked me to convey to you his crew selection for the
Docklands Head. In view of the short time span left and the length of
the race he decided to only put one crew, a WS4 8+ as follows:

Liz Macham, Kate Povall, Liz Bennett, Claire Torbica, Katie Martin,
Anne Salmon, Elida Fidler, Diane Hargan, Cox and Reserve Jo Chapman.

Everyone else is very welcome to come and support. Will let everyone
know details and timings when I know them.

See you next week.(hopefully not still hobbling)
Just to let you know we will be having a 2k ergo test. Not sure which
day but if you do it independently it must be witnessed by a bona
fide witness(Rays words not mine!!!!)

Dear Everyone,
I have been asked by John Clayton to advise everyone that for security
reasons the club security number will be changed as from midday on
Sunday. This means that the new number will be required for the safe,
alarm and combination locks.
The new number will be advised to members in person on Saturday and
Sunday at the club. Anyone not around at the weekend can obtain the
number by phoning John Clayton on 07710504790 or Robin Chapman on
07702300826. It may be necessary to confirm your membership status
before issuing the number to you. Please be patient.
Thank you for your co-operation. This has been necessary to protect the
security of the club.

Dear All,

I thought that I should advise you of some decisions taken at the recent rowing committee meeting.

Firstly it was decided to revert to allocating some boats to specific squads and the Women's squad have use of Stolen Dreams 2x, Morpheus 4x- and Captain Gillespie 4+.

There are certain restrictions of use which have been placed on some boats to preserve their life and to try and ensure that they are always available for racing crews.

STOLEN DREAMS - may only be used by competent racing crews and then only with permission of the Women's Squad co-ordinator (me!). Currently the only women who have permission to use this boat are Kate p and Liz M.

MORPHEUS - may only be used by competent crews who have an approved steersperson in the bows. Again with permission form Women's squad co-ordinator.

Please ensure that when you are putting blades/sculls away that you put them back where they came from. We have had a few complaints that the concept sculls are not being put back properly.

All those women rowing should by now be fully paid up members of the club. A list of paid up members will be placed by next weekend in the training hut.

ANYONE WHO IS NOT ON THE LIST SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO GO ON THE WATER.

Finally - don't forget to advise me of your availability for racing so that we can sort out crews asap for the next events and get training.

Regards

Anne
