RE: [libertysidesaddle] Horses now "companion animals" by U.S. FDA

Sorry, what is so "dark and forboding" about it???? It is talking about the use and testing of anesthetics.

And, I would rather have my horse considered a "companion animal," which it IS, and not "livestock," which are specificalyy bred and killed for the food chain.

Subject: [libertysidesaddle] Horses now "companion animals" by U.S. FDA

The link below is from the U.S. FDA's Center for Veterinary Medicine website. The entire message forebodes of darker days for the responsible ownership of animals. However, the most troubling item in the text is the categorization of horses as "companion animals," rather than livestock.

Speak up now or slowly lose your rights to own, use and breed animals responsibly. One by one, our rights as animal owners are being reduced or denied us.

I am sure that is it - it means $$$ to those who are in the "business" of horses. So it is doom and gloom to their livelihood because they don't want to have...

I believe I agree with both Terrys. One thing "companion animals" would prevent is the slaughter and sale of horses as "livestock" for food purposes. Canada...
